can the web component call a local html file?

When I use the web component in testing to try to call a web component this URL

file:///C:/company/landing.html

is changed to

http://file:///C:/company/landing.html

shouldn't the web component take any file, and not append http automatically?

Hi there
I have overcome this problem by running local web server on the unit and then pointing the file to localhost and setting the default landing page as the file

An external app -- ie. firefox supports local html files

* shouldn't have to load webserver software --

Any other ideas?
