Easy way to swich from white label to MediaSignage Version
« on: March 09, 2011, 12:32:52 AM »
I've found that there is an easy way to switch from white label to Media Signage.com. White label user can copy the link for example newbielink:http://master.signage.me/MasterServer/signagestudio.aspx?mode=login&eri=(number [nonactive]) and then cut off the "eri" number. After removing the cookies and pasting the following link into adress bar newbielink:http://master.signage.me/MasterServer/signagestudio.aspx [nonactive] the user will see  the Studio branded by Media Signage. Is it possible to make this basic link unavailable or not branded?

We do have in our road map plans to encrypt the ERI.

If you have access to your DNS, you can add an A record for your domain name that points to the IP address for 'master . signage . me'.

Assume your domain name is 'domain.com'.  Add an A record for subdomain.domain.com that points to IP address for 'master.signage.me'.

Now, instead of using newbielink:http://master.signage.me/MasterServer/signagestudio.aspx?mode=login&eri=nnnnnnn [nonactive]
use newbielink:http://subdomain.domain.com/MasterServer/signagestudio.aspx?mode=login&eri=nnnnnnn [nonactive]

This should effectively hide the 'master.signage.me' domain name from your users.  The only downside is that if the eri is removed from the URL, users may still see the MediaSignage branding.  I remember seeing something in the tutorial videos about the MediaSignage servers setting a cookie so that it remembers your users using your portal and prevents them from seeing the MediaSignage branding.  Not sure if it will work for this or not, however.

We do have plans to encrypt the ERI in future release. And yes a cookie is saved once an ERI is submitted.
I doubt any web visitor would every remove the URL postfix.
