SignagePlayer / Re: Station going off line
« Last post by pcrescue on Today at 08:16:07 PM »
I had a similar issue with stations going offline. So I attached a wifi-controlled outlet so they can be remotely rebooted. I also schedule the outlets to turn off anyways when the player doesn't need to be on anyways.

There is an app called "Automateit".  It allows you to set an automatic reboot.  The paid version lets you set one reoccurring reboot.  The free version makes you set up specific times but you can set up as many as you want.

I usually set up a forced reboot every 4 hours.   This keeps everything up an running if watchdog fails.

Appreciate the fast feedback and suggestion.

Since the box was just a one-off I sent it back.

I will order another s905w with android7 - seems to work just fine for my very very basic needs. (just looping a few video clips)

Thanks!

Amlogic S90x with Android 7 is found to be incompatible with our Version 6 of our player software.  android 6 does seem to work but it does not work correctly if you are trying to overlay a transparent image on top of a video.  note that Amlogic S90x uses Cortex A53 processor which is quite old and thus has issues with newer android os version as the gpu driver is outdated.

the version that may work though is version 5 of the player but with some varied results. if you wish to try, you can download the version 5 apk from this link: http://galaxy.signage.me/Code/Install/apk/5.0/CloudSignagePlayer.apk.

Thanks, I will give it a try. Older Android boxes I use work fine for hours on end then eventually drop out but the watchdog kicks in and they work again.

The Watchdog doesn't seem to work on these newer boxes I have.

I have two different android 7.1.2 boxes

One works, one doesn't.

cpu as follows

S905X - doesnt work. (mp4 will play fine from a usb stick, just not within DS app)
S905W - works

I also have older android 6 boxes with S905X - they work.

Once the video playback starts, its like massively zoomed in grey blocks. Since I can't attach pic or post links pm me and I can try that.

Just a fyi - I can totally just use another box but willing to help with any revised android app beta testing.

android devices use low powered arm processors and its only recently that you have more powerful ones.   in order to keep cost down, what most manufacturers do is to use older chipset - android 10 for example may still work on some older chipset (chipset such as the one using Cortex-A53 processor) without the proper hardware driver such as gpu - such may cause issues with our app especially the latest ones relies on the hardware GPU. most of the issue can be seen when trying to play videos.

the first thing to try is enabling Texture Video in the video's property when placed in a scene or channel and see if it makes the playback more stable. note that in some cases, video will not play at all when this property is enabled which means your hardware GPU is not implemented properly or is simply not capable.

another thing to try is to recode the video to mp4 with the following codec settings:

Video: h.264, 24fps, 4mbps, 1920x1080 max resolution
Audio: acc, 44khz, 176kbps

video needs audio track even if there is no sound otherwise, the app can crash.  you can use converters such freemake from: http://www.freemake.com/free_video_converter/ and recode the videos to match the above codec settings.

Addendum to the above. It seems the presentation drops out after playing a video file. It plays the video perfectly then crashes out. If I remove all the videos, images play fine.

Can anyone suggest a reliable Android player to use. All of mine (variety from various sources) seem to drop out sooner or later. I've just bought 2 brand new ones running Android 10. Removed any unnecessary software after a factory reset, checked for updates etc. and they still drop out after a few minutes.

The player is a T95,4+64GB with plenty of space and ram free. Cortex -A53 with Mali-G31 GPU.

All other apps I've tried on it work fine. The presentation I'm using works perfectly on a Windows box.

Open source Digital Signage / Re: FasterQ : send email/sms notifications
« Last post by admin on February 16, 2021, 11:18:04 PM »
I am having this same issue. The Print, QR and email works for me, but the SMS notification is not working. I am located in Guyana, South America.

In addition, a record is added to the queue although the user does not receive the SMS.

the sms gateway is set for US only. therefore this feature is not available in your country.

Q1) FasterQ has the option to send a notification when a certain number of people are ahead of you and the number of people is adjustable per queue
in the BackOffice but unfortunately this option is not functional for the moment , Why?
Q2) FasterQ has the option to send a  notification saying you are next in the queue but this option is not functional , why?

we have to check the code for the email portion but for the SMS, as mentioned above, this feature is for US only.  at the moment though, development for Studio Lite has been halted as we are focused more on the next version of the platform called Sign Studio which combines all features from Pro and Lite but using purely web interface. we will review the email feature again on testing.

best regards
