an teethstraight, I am just an end user who has experience with Cyber Security, so this is not coming form Admin or Mediasignage. So, maybe they have a different answer.  8)

I would venture to say that they do? Think about it. You can update the usernames and passwords from ANY computer anywhere in the world. Even with your computer turned off. Where else would they be stored if not cached on the player? If you are that worried about the security of a "cloud" system, then you probably should get the Server Solution and manage it yourself. But hey, Facebook is in the Cloud as well. Another name for "The Cloud" is "The Internet". But I am guessing that you think that Facebook's security is stronger than MediaSignage's. But the truth of the matter is that Facebook is a much higher profile for hackers to target. They really do not care or know too much about your signage solution system. Locks are only meant to keep the honest people out.

mediaPLAYERS, Hardware and accessories / Re: MAC mini vs mediaBOX
« on: July 15, 2012, 08:01:38 PM »
That topic seems to have been removed. Any update to this as 4.0 is soon to be released? MediaBox vs Mac Mini. Who wins here or are we now on a level playing field when it comes to the SignagePlayer? Also on a side note, what about other players out there?

MCPVision,

It's been a year now. I'm just checking to see if you're still using the same business plan for your ad packages.

Did you get it working?

SignageStudio / Re: Play multiple RSS feeds in a row

I am wondering if you could use the XML component for this. Maybe create an XML document with resource attributes that point to the text documents. Like rss, maybe it would treat each  XML statement as an article that would be played right after the previous one. I am just learning the XML component myself. Just an idea.

Report bugs and errors / Re: Navigation Items disappearing!
« on: July 14, 2012, 08:16:34 PM »
I am thinking this may be an issue with Mediasignage.com's servers now that I have tried on multiple computers, (Windows and Apple), both desktop and web. When I check other items in the navigation menu, I sometimes only get part of the Navigation window to show up, and other menu items through out including the main menu that is supposed to be at the top also disappears. This is the first time I am seeing this, so maybe there is some programming going on in the program. maybe it is time for me to go to bed. If I see anything else, I will update this post.

Report bugs and errors / Navigation Items disappearing!
« on: July 14, 2012, 06:38:41 PM »
I am just wondering if this is a normal behavior. I check of several items to be included in the Navigation pane such as outgoing ads and incoming ads. I have tried saving, set default layout, you name it. Every time I logout and log back in, I have to do it all over again as the only items that remain are Resources, Campaign, and Stations. Could it be a bad preference file on the computer or is this normal?

I am running 3.0 Enterprise.

Report bugs and errors / Re: Station location is not working today

I have also noticed that the location search only works with the web version. My desktop version will not pull locations at all. The settings are the same for both. Is the known or Operator Error?

Is there any update for this?

Well, I was using 4.0.15. The blog about the beta as well as the update blog both tell you what you need to do for all operating systems. Thus giving one the impression that all operating systems are able to use the beta. It wasn't until I was chatting with tech support online that I found out Windows was the only OS supported right now.

It is odd that we are told that version 3 and 4 do not play well together, yet when you sign in online you are automatically using 4.0.15 to build your content and you have to use 3.x desktop and player for it to work properly.

Anyhow, 4.0 installs but leave that message about manual install of the script, which you can't do with the install.sh that is loaded. I was able to get around this by extracting the install.sh from 3.x and replacing the 4.x one. This allows the script to run. I think I that the script is formatted for DOS not Mac. It doesn't remove the manual install script as of yet but the script runs. Maybe the controller script also is  it formatted  incorrectly.

I am very impressed with the system so far. Even with the issues that will be corrected in the Beta, in my opinion, it is far superior to two other "leading or #1" systems out there. Congrats on a successful and an awesome product.

Ok I think I found the directory?

/Applications/SignagePlayer.app/Contents/Resources/mac/

Now when I get to the part of running the script, I get the following:

sudo: unable to execute ./install.sh: No such file or directory

I see the file when I list the contents of the directory.

I have also tried to run the script from the front end and received a similar error:

-bash: /Applications/SignagePlayer.app/Contents/Resources/mac/install.sh: /bin/bash^M: bad interpreter: No such file or directory
logout

I too am having the same issue with the beta player. The files are not in the same directory. Please advise where to go from here with this. Thank you.
