Report bugs and errors / Portrait/Lanscape issue
« on: December 19, 2009, 04:10:50 PM »
I have a demo monitor that is set up to rotate to Portrait mode so I can show menu boards and such. I found that I needed to change the SCREEN to 270 to get portrait to show correctly. But when I try to show a landscape designed campaign on the same monitor, it would not change back form portrait to landscape. It still showed in portrait mode.

I had to go the the landscape designed campaign and select "0" for orientation to get it to show up correctlly.

I'll just use other Digital Signage SaaS for those if it is not on the roadmap. I know you have other fish to fry. Thanks

I met with a local county official who was excited about this type of functionality. Apparently there is some "Recovery" money for emergency notification systems.

New features and suggestions / Seamless Content updates
« on: December 19, 2009, 02:13:28 PM »
I wish we could have a smooth transition for one update to the next without seeing the "Signage presentation will resume momentarily". I'd like the player to just download the content while the previos content is playing and then transition to the new content like it does from one scene to the next.

I'd also like the monitor standby feature to work the same way. Wake up and get the content before the Monitor turns on so we don't need to see that message.

Report bugs and errors / Clock Component - Custom Format issue
« on: December 19, 2009, 01:39:50 PM »
After inserting the clock component in SS v1.8.184, and creating a custom format and save it, I cannot go back and modify the custom format. The text is not selectable.

By the way, I still jump to my reseller home page when I click on Help-> About in SS 1.8184

Thanks for the suggestion, but not sure how I could scehdule more than one thing to play at a time. I think this needs to move to a wish list item.

We need a component that is time based. An time based component that plays announcements or images or whatever we throw at it, according to the dates we set it to show.

We would drag the "timer" component into the scene, then on the right panel, we would have options to put other resources (or even other components) into it. It would have a way to populate the component with resources and the dates, times you want them to play. If the resource time had passed the current time, the resource did not play and the timer component would play the next resource that had a matching time duration.

This way, I could put a timer component in a scene, populate it with images that changed at certain times. Or I could fill the timer component with different label components that were job listing that would play in order until the job posting time limit had past.

Similar to the custom RSS component, but image if we could say what date, time and duration the items appeared.

SignagePlayer / Re: Can I Embed a campaign on a web page?
« on: December 19, 2009, 12:42:28 PM »
That's part of the problem.

When I design a scene, I often use images that are larger than the scene itself. That way I can position them around and get the section that I want to show, where I want it. Or sometimes use a dyanmic effect to mover them. But in the webplayer preview, the upper left corner is looking okay, but anything that is bigger than the orignal scene to right, for example, is still shown.

I don't think Iframes would work and they aren't supported by some browsers anymore (I think). I was hoping for something like a youtube embed that you can set the width and height of the embed. That would cut off the undesirable extra right image stuff.

SignagePlayer / Can I Embed a campaign on a web page?
« on: December 19, 2009, 08:28:16 AM »
When you create a campaign for a client, you need to get approval from the client before publishing it. The trouble is that if you send a link to the preview webplayer, the client might have their desktop resolution set to something different than the screen was designed for. That makes things look odd.

I was thinking that perhaps there is a way to embed the campaign in a web page and control the screen resolution shown in the embedded code, so that the demo always looked good, albeit a bit smaller perhaps?

Any ideas?

Another example might be a jobs posting board. Jobs come and go at different times. Some are posted longer. Some are posted only foro a specific time.

If you were designing an info board for a specific location with one or two duplicating screens, what would recommend to have the least inpact on your time to accomplish such things as changes and scheduling.

The idea is to have the Info Board manager call with a new item they want to announce, like a day trip. The events are always changing and, of course, have limited time value. You don't want to be playing events that are over.

Do you create a standard campaign and add timelines for each event and manually pull the events that are over? Do you create a new campaign for the event and use scheduler to add a higher priority event? What if there are two events to choose from but overlapping times? One event may be going on for a month, another for only a day during that same month. Another for two weeks during that same month and part of the next month.

Do you see what I am getting at? There are so many options in MediaSignage, but what would be the least amount of work for the VAR, that can be repeated over and over as events come up, and go past?

New features and suggestions / Emergency Campaign Override
« on: December 13, 2009, 05:31:32 PM »
I'd like to see the ability for speciic end-users to be able to override the scheduled Campaign/timeline to play a selection of general emergency timelines.

Similar to the Music Controller, pehaps an emergency notification controller that the user could pick from several buttons for Fire Alarm, Weather Alert, other Emergency, pre-configured campaigns. The user could click the button again to stop the emrgency notification and continue with the previously scheduled campaign.

General discussion on the mediaCLOUD / Re: VLC and AVerMedia Capture Card

I am so happy. I found the problem. I noticed as I was turning the BlackBox on and off that I could see the TV picture for a bit. It was hidden behind the Airplayer screen all along. I checked the profile.vcr file and sure enough, the AlwaysOnTop flag got unset somehow. Put it back to 1 and it is working as advertised.

It does not work.

Thanks, I've watched the vidio several times and agree that it shows dummy and no chrome for using VLC with DVD and palying wma files, etc. but not for a capturec ard like the AVermedia C038. If I is in the video, I am not seeing it.

So if you could just cut and paste that command line instead of the link to the video, that would be great.

General discussion on the mediaCLOUD / Re: Scrolling text
« on: December 10, 2009, 06:39:39 AM »
Not sure what is the matter. Some setting perhpas. You said you were using the scene editor? Make sure you can see the scrolling text when you click the play button in the preview window. No sense going to the SignagePlayer when you can't see it in SignageStudio. Get it to work ther first.

I just opened a new scene, dragged into the "main" screen to add the RSS component, clicked Embedded RSS and selected Horizontal scroll. Clicked + to add a Title, typed something in and pressed the play button. I saw the scroll. It works for me.
