Report bugs and errors / Re: Memory Leakage

I had to change the Windows Virtual memory setting. Mine were set to None. I changed my settings to those I mentioned above.

SignagePlayer / Re: AirPlayer data

Could you please address my other two questions, namely; is the cached cleaned automatically and does the export/import really transfer every filein the business resources?

SignagePlayer / AirPlayer data

Where are the cached player resources download on the windows version of the media player?

Is the cached automatically cleaned?

It appears that using the export and import feature (when not network access is available) exports all the resources for the company, not just the resources assigned to a specific timeline or specific station. This seems like a waste od disk space.

I am concerned because some media players, like that built into the Samsung CXn serries have very limited internal disk space. Even the black box, with 80GB will soon fill up with the Media RSS cache if not cleaned regularly.

New features and suggestions / Re: Support for AVI file type
« on: January 22, 2010, 02:18:56 PM »
Thanks forthe suggestion Sharon. I  dwnloaded and tried the application and found that the quality was not as good as QMV. MP4 looks good on an iPOD, but not on a 40" LFD.

It is frustrating that I have to convert nice quality .avi video files to lower quality and often LARGER flv/swf/mp4 files to play on mediasignage.

Using VLC in MediaSignage is not stable enough to use yet, in my opinion.

Is this technical or a license issue for not supporting .avi? Something that is coming, but not yet on your worklist? You may know of some, but I am not aware of any other digital sigange providers that do not let you drop in .avi files to a project ot playlist.

New features and suggestions / Support for AVI file type
« on: January 21, 2010, 10:07:18 AM »
I've tried several suggestions for different conversion programs to convert .avi files to supported file types for mediasignage, but they all display jumpy and in poor quality. I've tried SuperC, QuickMediaConverter and others.

I need help from someone who knows what converter program to use and all the settings to get a 2MB .avi file (that runs perfectly and smoothly on the media player using VLC) as an FLV or SWF file. I need to convert it to FLV or SWF to run on MediaSignage with the same smoothness and quality as VLC shows it.

Of Course, if Media Signage would support .avi file types, all this would not be necessary.

Report bugs and errors / New look for Forum

I like the new look.

I want to let you know that with IE8, I do not get a back, forward button when I open this forum from the link. Mozilla seems to work fine. I an still use the ALT -> or ALT<- to get around, but the buttons would be nice.

I been looking at this for several revisions. In the station menu the STARTED time is not deciferable to me. At firat I thought it was a clock time that the player was started, but it was always off by hours AND minutes, so it was not a time zone issue. I do not understand it. Is the number in the "started" column a clock time, or is it the length of time since the player first logged in with the server?

How does one interpret "2.03:07:26"?

I am now guessing that it is a timer, not a clock. That the "started" is when the player FIRST logged in and the "restarted" is when it was updated.

Am I on the right track?

Report bugs and errors / XPe desktop issues
« on: January 20, 2010, 05:56:40 PM »
I have a Blackbox from MediaSignage that I use for testing. When it does not autostart a program, it boots to a black screen. I need to use CTRL-ALT-DEL to pring up a task manager to get things done. I have another XPe machine that boots to the desktop GUI.

I've noticed that when I stop and start the player, or send changes, the XPe withthe GUI restarts okay, but leaves the Start menu with clock, etc. on the screen.

I do not know what the difference is between the black screen boot and GUI boot, or how to go from one to the other.

I guess I need to set up the other machinse to black screen boot to get rid of the issue?

Looking forward to the fix. Any word?

No, I am using 1.8, but I think I found the problem. The Blackbox unit I am using did not have any page files set up for virtual memory support. With only 1GB onboard, the larger campaigns were using all the memory and blowing up. I set min to 1500 and max to 3000MB and it seems to be working now, but I have not had enough time to test it further.

Running 1.8.185

I am running a two-timeline campaign that develops odd behavior (missing components, etc.) then the player reboots after a few iterations.

Running task manager while it is running, I've noticed that PF Usage just keeps rising and rising each time the timeline changes. Then it gets to max memory and halts. It looks like PF USage drops way down and the player reboots again.

I've also modified one timeline to have the conent of the two timelines run in one channel and it does the same thing.

New features and suggestions / Weather Component
« on: December 27, 2009, 01:38:07 PM »
Please add the ability to justify the data listed in a weather component. It is impossible to line up the day of the week (Sunday and Wednesday) in the middle of a label when the number of letters change and all we get it left justified.

General discussion on the mediaCLOUD / Re: Transition between timelines

I have a Blackbox unit. I get a momentary white screen too. Looks unprofessional. I am hoping for some smoother timeline and campaign transitions in future releases...hopefully!

I guess I was confused.I was thinking like a end user, not resller. Did not expect that.

As for the clock. I restarted SS and it was working. I've had a few issues that did not work after a time, but restarting SS made them work as advertised. I guess I need to do that before posting!
