Thanks for the info about the Mobile Controller. It seems like it will be a great feature when it is available.

Regarding the redirect issue, I don't believe it is misconfigured DNS... that would not cause a browser redirect. After some digging in your application's code, it seems the redirect is called in the Default.aspx.cs file located at C:\WebServers\Master\HomeDirectory\Default.aspx.cs

The relevant portion being "Response.Redirect("https://master.signage.me/MasterServer/MobileLogin.aspx")". Further investigation revealed that this is also the case (virtually identical code) for the Business site as well. Can I assume that this is a holdover from your cloud offering? I would like to remove this redirect rule if possible or point it to my own domain.

I have noticed that browsing to http://master.my-domain.com on my MediaSERVER redirects me to https://master.signage.me/MasterServer/MobileLogin.aspx. Further, I can access my local version of the Mobile Signage Controller by browsing to http://master.my-domain.com/WebService/MobileLogin.aspx, but attempting to enter credentials in the username and password boxes on that site results in errors.

Three questions:
-Why does http://master.my-domain.com redirect to the signage.me site?
-How do I prevent this redirection? It is confusing to users and does not seem to serve any purpose.
-What is the Mobile Signage Controller and should I be concerned that it is not working on my MediaSERVER?

So, after a little digging around, I noticed that IIS lists an application for the master site at /WebService. Tried that in the URL you supplied instead of 'MasterServer' (http://master.my-domain-here.com/WebService/signagestudio.aspx?mode=login) and found the Web Studio.

I'm glad I resolved this for myself, but would you consider updating the Tutorials for MediaSERVER with instructions on how to access the Web Studio in addition to the Desktop Studio? This is a great feature and will be very helpful to our users. The only way I even knew it existed was by reading the marketing material!  :)

Thanks for your reply. That may be the address for the signage.me domain (I assume that is part of the MediaCLOUD offering) but I am referring to our locally hosted MediaSERVER.

When I point my browser to http://master.my-domain-here.com/MasterServer/signagestudio.aspx?mode=login I get an Error 404 message from our server.

Report bugs and errors / MediaSERVER Provider account password

When running Setup.exe for a fresh install of MediaSERVER, the setup process allows the use of punctuation marks (tested with an exclamation mark !) in the Provider account password field. However, the Studio software will not allow the entry of those characters. I ran into this issue and ended up editing the database users table to remove the ! and regain access.

Just thought I'd make the devs aware...

Sorry to dredge up an old topic, but do you have any guidelines on creating the SWF for the splash screen? We have created an SWF, but every time I select it in the Reseller interface and click the 'Save' check mark, it just reverts back to the default MediaSignage animation.

Any ideas on what we may be doing wrong?

Thank you for your response. That is our current solution to the problem but you must admit that it is, at best, a workaround. An unauthorized visitor is still able to create a new user account and a new business with no approval from our administrators. The fact that this account has very little access is beisde the point; Now our admins have to be on the lookout for unauthorized businesses that crop up in ther Reseller interface and delete them. Even then, they might pop up again since there is nothing stopping an end user from creating new accounts.

In addition, it is also confusing to the end user to see those links in the interface when they are not allowed to use them and thus increases our support workload.

So, while I appreciate the advice regarding limited default access, I still need to reiterate that this is an unresolved feature request. Back to my original question: has there been any progress toward implementing a way to remove the "Create new account" and "Rename business" links on the SignageStudio login screen?

At http://mediasignage.com/html/digital_signage_server.html, under the Administration tab, it says: "Full access to both the ResellerStudio and Admin panel from any Flash powered browser" and "Web management is an integral part of the mediaSERVER. You can access all of your managed accounts through the Admin control panel". Under the Features tab, it says "You get full access to the ... SignageStudio Web and Desktop versions..."

Questions:
How do I access the 'Web Management' and/or 'Admin Control Panel' using my browser?
What is the SignageStudio Web version described above?

The web site mentions an admin control panel that can be accessed from any flash based browser. http://mediasignage.com/html/digital_signage_server.html

Have I missed this feature? How is it accessed? I am currently using SignageStudio to manage accounts.

Has there been any progress on this issue? It appears that this has been outstanding since May 2010.

Our organization uses MediaServer as an internal digital signage solution. We have no interest in external users being able to create arbitrary accounts. Our security team has raised concerns about unauthenticated, anonymous users being able to create accounts at will within the application.

In the same vain, it would also be desirable to remove the 'Rename business' link from the Studio login screen as well. We handle all of this internally.

I would be interested in seeing a quota feature for the MediaServer/Reseller offering. Ideally, this would let you set a cap on the maximum storage space used by uploaded content per business. Things like file size upload limits would be nice too.

On the mediaServer side, this could be implemented with Windows file system quotas on the Resource directories, but I'm not sure how mediaServer would react to that.
