General discussion on the mediaCLOUD / Adobe Air updater
« on: September 05, 2009, 10:01:00 PM »
Hi,

About the only thing left that tends to knock out my signs is when Adobe decides to send out an Air update. Is there anything I can do stop this from happening?

Thanks,

Jon

mediaPLAYERS, Hardware and accessories / Display Recommendation
« on: May 11, 2009, 10:34:24 AM »
Hi Everyone,

I need to purchase some new displays and am looking for advice. I need reliable, industrials strength displays that can operate 24x7. Probably 46", but I might go up to 52". Currently, I'm using Samsung displays.

Any thoughts, recommendations...

Thanks,

Jon

Report bugs and errors / Player Memory Problem
« on: April 13, 2009, 07:58:06 PM »
Hi,

Since the release of 1.2.33, memory use has increased a lot. While I can't remember exact numbers, my current content was using around 120M. The same content is now reporting 1.3G on one of my test players. On my XPe devices the player is now unstable and is reporting a low virtual memory condition.

I haven't seen this issue prior to 1.2.33.

Thanks,

Jon

New features and suggestions / Connection Status Email Notification
« on: April 02, 2009, 11:52:25 PM »
Sean,

Are there plans to enable some type of email notification when stations go down. We're thinking of using the software in somewhat mission critical environment (ie. hospital emergency room) to display room status info. And having some push kind of notification when a station loses connection would be useful.

Thanks,

Jon

Report bugs and errors / Orphan Stations
« on: March 23, 2009, 10:02:43 AM »
Hi,

Is there any way to get rid of orphan stations. It's happened to me that for various reason (e.g. sign player computer crash etc.) that if you don't get the chance to unregister a station properly then there's no way that I can find to get rid of it. Registering a player with the same station name and then trying to unregister that station just creates a duplicate station with the same name.

Thanks,

Jon

Report bugs and errors / Station Connection Status Blinking
« on: February 27, 2009, 12:02:16 AM »
I don't know if this is a bug or not, but I've never seen it before:

My station status connection lights are blinking alternately red and green. Does this signify something. My test player here seems to be running properly. I don't know about the display at my office.

Thanks,

Jon

New features and suggestions / Local Resource Management
« on: February 26, 2009, 04:14:16 PM »
Hi,

Is there any way that I can modify the local resource folder location? I've figured out that one reason I've had player update crashing problems (and there have been alot of player updates lately) is that my Samsung 460pxn XPe displays use what's left of RAM (1GB) after the OS and apps are loaded as the C drive. This turns out to be about a 100MB C drive.

When a player update comes along, I get into a low hard drive space situation during the upgrade and the player update errors out. I know that this is the case because if I delete all of the local resource files pushed down from the server (videos etc.) and then run the update again everything works fine.

So, the only way to increase my local resource storage capacity on these things is by plugging in a large capacity (4GB or so) USB key and putting the resource files there, but I don't see a way in the player setup to change the default resource folder location to another drive. Doing so would also give me alot more flexibility in how many resources I can put into a campaign etc. 1GB is enough for the OS and player software, but what remains after that is pretty limited for resource storage.

Thanks,

Jon

Report bugs and errors / Station Connection Status
« on: February 16, 2009, 12:32:22 AM »
Hi,

I don't think that station connection status is accurately reporting station status. I have two Samsung 460pxn displays at my office that power down in the evening and then power on in the morning. They are behind a NAT firewall and I've been monitoring them from home the last three nights.

Night 1: Station 1 reported disconnected, Station2 reported connected
Night 2: Station 2 reported disconnected, Station 1 reported connected
Night 3 (tonight): They are both reporting connected.

Neither of them has been on any of the three nights. I've tried the ping button, but as far as I can tell that's not doing anything.

Thanks,

Jon

New features and suggestions / Scrolling Banner
« on: February 12, 2009, 12:23:33 AM »
Hi Sean,

First, let me say that your system is becoming quite a powerful system and I've been testing with the new version without major problems so far. I've been using it on some XPembedded Samsung monitors and those things aren't that powerful, but so far so good.

I do have a request for a native configurable scrolling banner (i.e. ability to control and change banner text). Something that doesn't require using external dev tools or widgets to create. Something for easily setting and configuring emergency announcements etc. The Label component sort of works, but creates layout problems for large amounts of text.

Or maybe there's some other solution that I've missed.

Thanks,

Jon
