Report bugs and errors / AverMedia crash on EXE version of Player

Have been experiencing an issue regarding the AverMedia AVerTV HD DVR internal capture card and the exe version of Signage Player. I've been on chat for hours about this and have also emailed a support ticket. Still waiting for an answer. Adding to the forums to get user input.

This is what occurs:

1. Signage Player loads.
2. Through the External App component, Player launches AVer_MediaCenter.exe. (MP4 video content is simultaneously playing in a  separate zone.)
3. After about 4-8 seconds into the Aver Media Center load, Player crashes and closes out. Aver Media Center remains on the screen. Player auto starts back up, but Aver Media Center does not
restart as it is already launched.
4. AverMedia does not auto load the capture feed (it remains on the capture screen). It's as though the crash stops it from auto loading.The capture feed of AverMedia has to be manually started. But whenever Player or Station restarts, it gets stuck on the capture screen of AverMedia.
5. When AverMedia is launched on it's own without Player, it does not auto load the capture. This only occurs when done through Player, and only successfully occurs when through the AIR version of Player.

This issue does not occur on the AIR version of Player, only the EXE version. We have tested on 4.33, 4.34, and v.5.0.68 and have had the same results across all. Have tested on Windows 7 and 10, Home and Pro editions, 32 and 64 bit versions. Hardware is Intel i5 with 4GB RAM.

We tested with a different internal capture card, the Hauppauge Colossus 2. It uses different software and we had no crash issues. However, the Hauppauge card and software had sluggish playback and is not a viable alternative.

Anyone else having a similar experience or able to shed some light on the issue?

When using the Dropbox component, and trying to show content from a Dropbox folder that has a special character in its name, including apostrophes, the content of that folder will not show through in Signage Player, despite showing through in Signage Studio.

As soon as the special character is removed from the folder name, the content displays as it should through Signage Player.

Please can this be fixed as we often do not have control over the naming of folders.

Not sure if the same issue applies to file names?

Testing on SignagePlayer v.4.34.35 on Windows based systems.

SignagePlayer / Kiosk and Events in Browser Preview

I'm trying run a campaign from my work computer to be used as a presentation to colleagues. I simply want to be able to rotate through videos and images I've assembled using the collection component. My triggers are all setup using events. It works as should through SignagePlayer. But I would prefer to run it through my browser using the "Preview in External Browser" mode, because several people will view through remote meeting software and I need access to those controls in Windows. The usual SignagePlayer mode overrides mostly everything, which is not ideal.

My events don't respond in this preview mode. Do they not function correctly through the browser? Any other suggestions on how to achieve this.

I'm running SignagePlayer 4.34.35 on Windows 7 Home, Intel i3, 4GB RAM.

Implemented the Browser Component into a scene and into a timeline and ran overnight. There were issues reported in another post (http://script.digitalsignage.com/forum/index.php/topic,5937.0.html), but this morning when I checked, I had several other serious issues relating to the node webkit. Please see attached images.

Has anyone else encountered this using the webkit? Admin, are you aware of these issues?

New features and suggestions / Dropbox Component File Order

Love the new Dropbox component, especially how easy it is for a user to obtain the token.

I'm currently using this component to show a stream of photos. New photos are being added to the folder on a regular basis. If not using using random playback, the slideshow starts at the photo that was first added to the Dropbox. I need for the most recent image to populate. Is it possible to add in the ability to control the order of playback? Example: have files playback descending or ascending (start from newest file vs. start from oldest file).

Have noticed that if I copy and paste a timeline, any COMMON channels that were assigned to screen divisions in that timeline are disconnected. They have to be reassigned to the relevant screen division. Please can you fix. Thanks.

Is anyone else having problems with the browser component? I'm using it within a scene on a timeline. At first it works, but every time I restart Player through Studio, it does not reload, and just says 'Webkit' in the area where it should be. I have noticed that Watchdog is not running, even though it says it is in Studio. Is the Browser malfunction related to the Watchdog not running?

If I restart Windows, Browser component does load, as does Watchdog, but only until I restart Player through Studio. Then problem persists.

Browser component appears to be failing upon restart of Player. I had several web pages cued and displaying fine. After restarting Player from Studio, web pages not loading. Just have a white square at top left and "webkit" center screen.

New features and suggestions / New Feature Voting

Could you implement a feature on the website or forum where we can vote for the most desired features? If you take your road map and listed each one so that we could vote on them, it would help you gauge the level of importance of where to prioritize. I'm desperate for the improved HTML component and the native capture support. Maybe I'm alone in that regard or maybe everyone else thinks the same. Let's put it to a vote to help determine where the priority lies. Anyone else agree?

We're experiencing the Windows cursor popping up in the center of the screen after a couple of hours of presentation playback. Does not disappear unless mouse/keyboard is clicked or system restarted. Seems to be occurring in one specific campaign which is running on 3 different systems:

Windows 7, Intel i3 - Player v.4.20.48
Windows 7, Intel i3 - Player v.4.20.48
Windows 8.1, Intel i3 - Player v.4.32.37

Kiosk mode is not enabled.

I've manage to isolate this being a problem with the HTML component. I have some custom apps using javascripts which seem to cause Player to crash now and then. As with most problems with this software, it's hit or miss when the problem occurs. Sometimes it handles the script fine, sometimes it does not. I've run the apps on a dedicated player for several hours now, and can determine the app crashes about 60% of the time. Enough to make this a problem for my clients.

What's most frustrating is that it's not a YES or NO bug. The fact that the script can be handled some of the time indicates to me that it's not far off from being capable.

Have emailed mstech to see if they can look into and confirm the crash on their end. Live Chat does not even answer my chat requests anymore.

SignagePlayer / Windows 7 Home vs Pro

Has anyone noticed any difference in stability, frequency of issues, between running SignagePlayer on Windows 7 Home vs. Windows 7 Pro?

We've only used Windows 7 Home, but I was wondering whether Pro would make any difference. I ask because there have been so many issues occurring with SignagePlayer in recent months and I keep getting told that it's my players.

Report bugs and errors / Right click not working in Studio (Enterprise)

Right clicking on scenes, resources, timelines etc. in Studio has suddenly stopped working when logged in as Enterprise user. This was working fine early last week, but then stopped near the end of the week. No updates to Studio were done. Current version is 4.32.37.

Oddly, when I log into a specific user account, right click does work.

I reported this to Live Chat on Friday who logged in to my Enterprise account and confirmed the issue. Have not heard anything back. Issue persists.

SignageStudio / Duplicate Button and Import Feature

Glad to see that there is now the ability to copy and paste elements between accounts. However, the Duplicate button is now gone. Why? Please bring it back. Removing user friendly buttons and adding in two steps for something that already worked fine within one account seems like a move backwards.

Also, can you add the ability to select whole folders when copying and pasting?

I'm running Player 4.30.22 on Windows 7 Home 64, Jetway NF9J-Q87 motherboard, Intel i5, 4GB RAM, 120GB SATA, with Aver Media Capture Card.

1. Sometimes when I go to restart Player from Studio, Player closes out along with the watchdog and does not auto restart. Have to manually start Player or restart Windows to get operational again.
2. When AverMedia launches as an external app, presentation locks up. However, when I go to move the mouse, it has the resize window command already selected, so that as I move the mouse it scales the AverMedia window. Once I click, AverMedia reverts to the size assigned to its channel and Screen Type partition in Studio, and presentation resumes playback. Seems like there might be a bug occurring in the sizing of the external application matching the dimensions set in the Screen Type for that partition. Not occurring consistently.
3. The majority of the time, Watchdog is not active. Often I have a green doughnut in Studio instead of a solid circle. Cannot restart Player as a result, and seems to be causing issues with external app component as well.
4. Updated to Air v.15, but Studio and Player menu are saying v.3.6.06090, even though Windows is saying v.15.

Please let us know.
