I only use android players (2g/16g Android 7.0 or better) and it affected all of them when DS 6.0 was loaded.  Ron P in Live Chat is awesome and got me back up and running. 

In the last few days I noticed that some of my long standing concerns such as players locking up / failures to restart on errors seem to be resolved?  Maybe?  No formal notification from DS but one particular screen that always seemed to have issues now has run for 2 full days without a lockup.

We are still deciding what to do in November - Moving nearly 200 distinct signage clients in 3 states to a new vendor is not what I want to do.   I am just looking for a little consideration from DS.  It has been a difficult year for us.

I have the same issue with android - ended up going back to the version 5 player and using the version 5 studio.  Ron P in live chat can give you the links.  The biggest issue is that you have to do it at the players location.

We had nearly 100 affected players in 3 states so I got lots of windshield time that week.

I put a 2 sec blank .jpg immediately before a video and a immediately after it on the timeline.  I also use .flv for all of my video's.  This seems to work better for both smoother playing and smoother transition.

We had to reload the 5.0 Studio and use it for our existing clients and we use 6.0 studio for clients that need larger and faster RSS feeds.

Ron P in chat can send you the link to re-setup  5.0 - Install it in a different location so you can have 2 separate desktop icons for the studio versions.

We have been asking for a timeline resource or an automatic feature that could clear the cache automatically.  (Been asking for YEARS!)  I would love to have a simple timeline resource that could be dropped into a timeline that tells the player to clear the cache.  Or,  have a timer in the stations tab that could be set to clear it every few hours.

We use google drive and a google drive scene for almost everything we sell.  Clearing the cache fixes nearly every issue that we have. 

With well over 100 separate screens it is nearly impossible to keep everything "cleared".

PLEASE!  PLEASE!  PRETTY PLEASE?

We finally gave up on "pretty" weather scenes.  They were never up to date.  Then they would not layer correctly.  I do not have time for this.

What we have now is just a simple yahoo weather RSS feed that we scroll at the bottom of the screen.  Not pretty but it updates every 30 minutes and is accurate.  No fancy sunshine graphics and storm clouds but if it works it can be sold - if it does not work then I can not sell it.

So much does not work recently - we really need DS to step up and fix the basics.  The new stuff is really "nice and techie fun" but are useless if the basics do not work.

Local Business Patriots has been an enterprise user for many years.   I am trapped by DS as they are the only one that offer the Google Drive integration that I need.

We spent a lot of time and money only to have composite / component in and nowhere near HD out.

When it was suggested that we go with a PC and an AVermedia capture card we had what we needed only to find out it would not launch on start up.  The only solution was to send a stop/start command from the DS studio (not a good option as our end users do not have access to the studio - LOL).

No known fix from Digialsignage.com  - so - we spent 13 hours on a weekend to have my team figure it out.  (we wrapped the day around an informal company BBQ - it was fun)

I can provide a digitalsignage loaded, tested, and ready, small factor Window 10 PC with an Avermedia card that launches DS and TV capture correctly on power up for $700.00.   HDMI in / HDMI out.  Simple as that!   Login to your campaign and run with it.

If it works for you keep it - if it does not then send it back for a refund. (what a concept!)

We use these to display an instantly update-able RSS feed above live cable TV capture.  Simple but well received by our clients.

We used to use the media droid 90's directly from DS but they stopped selling them.  We have had very good luck with cheap 25 dollar android boxes.  1g/8g seems to be able to run our basic campaigns just fine. 

I just purchased 20 MXQ S805 Smart TV BOX Android 4.4 Quad Core for $20 each.  There are several versions of these boxes - some have an on off button and some just launch when connected to power.  Never know what bloatwhere is going to be on the device but most if not all can be uninstalled to free up some memory.  If you want to get really fancy with auto restarts and timed cache dumps you can root them

Also the mini android sticks work well and most can be powered off of the USB port on the TV.  That is nice because the client can fix most lock ups simply by turning the TV off and back on.

This is also happening to me - I had to make the screen division much "taller" than normal so all the text would show.  Do not know why as it used to work flawlessly.

We just went through this - we had promises of HD TV capture but could only get 420p with the mediabox 300 and the dongle.

The resolution we came up with was a small factor PC / an Avermedia PCI card / and a fix to the digitalsignage launch scripts.

In total it came out to be less money than the NUC/Dongle and renders the TV screen division in full HD.  Works Perfect.

We are selling quite a few of these.  I can set you up with something that is ready to go.

I do not know why this worked for me but we added a 3 sec blank jpeg between each item on the timeline.  It reduced my lock ups considerably.

On a pc you can set the bios and or batch files to stop and restart on a schedule.  Google it - You could have it restart at 5 am and you should be good.

Just a heads up:

Ran a 6.0 player with a V6 Studio and a single image stored in a google drive folder flashes.  Could not figure out how to make it stop. I will have to stay on the older player and older studio until this bug is squashed.   

I do love the V6 Studio RSS Feed font size and speed fix - awesome!

Yes - I use the remote clear all the time.  Having to go into each account, and then each station, and then click on the little eraser is what I would like to have a better option for.

Also - at times - maybe 2 out of 10 cache dumps - the station ends up setting at the white connection screen and does not automatically restart.  The client has to power off and back on the player to get it going again.  Maybe watchdog is not catching it. (?)

Having an easy to add clear the cache event on a time schedule would be awesome as long as everything restarts cleanly.

Having a Dump All button that would do it for all users / stations / that are under my enterprise account would be very useful as well.

The main issue is it seems when we add an item to drive it shows up pretty quickly - when we delete an item from drive it may stay in the memory on the player for several hours or even days.  Dump the cache and it is gone.

For Clarification:

Will we still be able to send a link that allows a someone to preview a campaign without having to log into the studio?
If we open a campaign in full screen preview we will be able to grab the address line in the browser and share it or not?
If not will there be some solution for this other than doing a screen grab and uploading it to youtube?   Lastly - what is the time frame for this to be resolved.

Once 6.0 player is loaded and we use studio V6 there will be no "Flashing" if there is a single image in Google Drive?

New features and suggestions / Google Drive - Need Auto Cache Dump.

Seems like the fix to all things glitchy with google drive is to clear the player cache.

Could we have a timed item either as a resource that could be placed on a timeline or something in the station tab that would clear the cache on a schedule - every hour, at a certain time, or something?

With over 100 accounts it is difficult / time consuming to do this manually and I have not had much luck trying to automate it externally.
