If you login is as steve@redminnow, go to the schoolItems folders in Campaigns, select the CampaignTest, then run the V6/v6Timeline and you will see the issue. I will try to record it but I am not going to be able to get to that today.

Here is a bug I reported months ago that is still an issue.

If you have a slideshow of images that have any kind of transition effect AND a transparent PNG above them to provide a visual mask, the images will pop above the PNG just before the transition, the transition will start and after the transition is complete, the new image will go back below the PNG.

Please note, the PNG is not used as a mask layer (like you would do in AS3), it is just a graphic with transparent "windows" to provide a border around the slideshow.

Sorry to pile onto this, but it would also be extremely beneficial to have a roadmap of upcoming features and an approximate time they are going to be released, as well as release notes when an update occurs.

I will open up SignageStudio with an Update message, but when I install it I have no idea what has been updated, or worse, removed.

I also agree that there is a lot of instability in the current version, and a lot of items I have reported as bugs during the beta phase are still not fixed. At this point, we have intentionally steered our clients to other software packages, because we do not feel the current software is stable enough to use and always feels to be in a state of flux.

AS an AS3/Flex/Air developer, it is very frustrating to see some of these bugs that I know I could fix if it were my code. I would be happy to provide code samples, references, sign an NDA and help as necessary to make this platform more stable and be the system it could be.

What about the computer you are using? What is it and what is the default resolution?

And did this happen after the system was turned off (including the computer)? My first thought is that the computer doesn't know what resolution to display and goes to it's default setting - not the resolution of the monitor. Check and see if the computer is at a different resolution than 1920x1080. If so, you may need to get an EDID to always have the computer set to 1920x1080. you may want to look into getting an EDID generator. EDID data exchange is a standardized means for a display to communicate its capabilities to a source device, letting it know what resolution it wants to display. An EDID generator is a small piece of hardware that connects between the laptop and the video display that always sends that resolution information. So even if the video display is turned off, the laptop still thinks it is on and is looking for a 1080p signal.

We have used them many times and they have solved headaches like the one you have. Definitely worth the $40-80 price tag!

I have created a script for Google Docs that takes a document and creates an RSS feed from it. It keeps all the formatting: paragraph spacing, paragraph alignment, (right, left, center), text decoration, (bold, italic, underline) and the text is encapsulated in CDATA within the RSS.

All the formatting comes through and displays perfectly in the Digital Signage player. However, I have noticed that if there are extra spaces within a sentence, the DS player does not display it correctly. It only displays one space instead of multiple ones. In doing research online, the first suggestion was to encapsulate all the text as CDATA, which I have done, but the problem still exists. Additional investigation indicates that the RSS reader ultimately handles how to display sentences with multiple spaces, and they can chose to ignore it.

You can see the extra spacing from the result, (if you look at the source code and not through a default RSS reader). However the DS player does not display it that way.

I have also tried to "fix" this by moving the layer order of the channels, so that all are below the channel that is at 0,0 coordinates, hoping that would at least hide the movement. But it appears that transitions occur above everything, as it still happens.

The other obvious "fix" for now is to turn off transitions for these channels, which is what I have to do for now.

This appears to be happening in any 6.x version of the app, but anytime I have transitions set, if the channel is not at the global 0,0 (x,y) location, during the transition the content from the channel always "jumps" to the global X,Y location through the transition and then places itself in its proper local X,Y location on its channel. I have this happening with images from Google Drive, as well as calendar events from Google Calendar. I just tested with a  Collection component and it is doing the same thing.  So in other words, all transition. In other words, every time a transition occurs, the channel content jumps to the upper left corner of the screen during the transition, and then moves to the correct location when the transition is complete.

The only issue I have with this solution is that the images don't cross fade. The first image just cuts out and the next image fades in. This happens 100% of the time. It would be great to have the cross fade work, and I have set transitions to inherit from the Campaign and still get this. I have also set the transitions on each level:Campaign, Timeline and Scene and still get the same results.

I can live without it, but any thoughts would be appreciated.

Interesting, that works very intermittently on my system. I am wondering if the app looses focus and thus doesn't receive the keyboard commands.  I will keep testing on my system and let you know what I find out.

I have come up with a work-around and have created a common channel and added the 3 different Google Drive components on it. I just have them there once and that channel loops indefinitely without the cut to black at the end. It appears to work fine. So this may be the best solution. If you have others, I would love to hear about them.

I am not sure if this is a bug or intended usage, but when using the Google Drive component and a JSON item to load/display the image, the application does not resize the image to be within the width/height of either the Google Drive component or the JSON component. This is the case with the "Maintain Aspect Ratio" checked and unchecked. It does not matter. It comes in at its native size. 

So if I have a 1920x1080 image but want to display it in a 1440x810 window, (75% full resolution), the image is displayed at full resolution and gets cut off on the right and bottom. Is there a way to resize Google Drive images to fit the size of the component it is in?

I have a client who has 3 different "sections" of items they want to display in their signage: Work Anniversaries, Birthdays, and Upcoming Events. They are creating graphics for all of these and want to manage them in directories in Google Drive and want the digital signage player to randomly load one from each category in that order: 1st an anniversary graphic, then a birthday one, and finally an upcoming event.

Overall this is easily accomplished in Signage Studio, but as I am creating a 24 hr timeline for the project, but is there a better way then copying and pasting 3 different Google Drive components that are each 10 seconds long over and over again to fill the 24 hr space? I realize I could make it shorter, like to 10 or 12 hours, but the client does not want the screen to go to black, (when the timeline ends and restarts), and that is still a lot of copying /pasting....one element at a time.

Any suggestions are helpful! Thanks in advance!

ESC does not work. I can drag the player off the screen but cannot get it to pause, stop or get to the menu screen. This is a very recent change.

I have not changed any settings in the player from the defaults. I just upgraded to the latest version, which is where I assume the change came from.

How do you locally stop the player now and get back to the player settings? There used to be a button that would become visible if you moved the mouse over the screen, but now it is gone.  Thanks in advance!
