SignageStudio / Re: Video Length "-1", Width/Height "0,0"
« on: June 25, 2011, 09:52:10 AM »
I've experienced the same issue of videos length -1. It could be related to the lack of meta data in the mp4 container or meta data at the end of the file container. Depending on the rendering engine, some render engines may place the meta at the end of the file container. With meta data placed at end of the file, the video will not stream but rather the whole file must be downloaded before it will play so the player can read the meta data.
This seems to work fine with Media Signage as the video assets are stored locally rather than streamed. It however is a pain to manually stretch out the video on the timeline everytime. Maybe there can be an editable textbox that we can overwrite and save the length of video so it doesn't disappear.
Also, version 3 available? I read the admin is talking about version 3.1 bug fixes. I stopped testing the 3.x version because all it supported was flv video files? Where as version 2.x supports flv, mp4, m4v, mov, 3gp, and mpg. I was able to upload but with no playback -- same file on both version 2.x and 3.x. And yes I filed reports with the techs about a month ago.

I was having the same debate and discussion myself. The Intel Atom or AMD E350 series processors are meant for low power consumption, ie. netbook or other battery powered devices. Plus they are running at only 1.6/1.8 Ghz, so not the best hardware choice for full screen flash/hd video applications.

They are no match to an AMD Phenom II or even an Intel i3 processor running at 3.10 Ghz. I'm in Canada, and have found that NCIX and TigerDirect both are increasing their inventories of mini-ITX motherboards. The price difference is about $100 between the all-in-one Atom motherboards and separate CPU/motherboard combos.
Depending on the complexity of your Campaign and your site location that will kinda dictate what size of computer box you want to use and/or selection of motherboards/cpus. I have an Gigabyte GA-H67N motherboard with a i3 processor and it works great stuffed into a mini-box.

As for OS, I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 and it was a simple install following the video on this site. Still waiting for my monitors to show up, but I'm driving a 28" 1920x1080 with no issues. The cost of Windows adds in a bit that's for sure.
It will be interesting if Adobe introduces in the StageVideo api into Adobe AIR as they did into Flash Player 10.2 and see what the results will be.

The MediaBox offered by MediaSignage seems like a great simple solution, unfortunately dealing with brokerage into Canada would raise the cost per unit I'm sure by a $100 and then add in shipping. However, we do have a strong dollar right now.

Hope this helps.

We recently signed up for the Reseller Program. Where do I find the dimensions of the swf file I should prepare for changing the 'Signage presentation will resume momentarily'?
Has it been implemented yet?

New features and suggestions / Re: Folders in the Resources

Actually. I'm referring to when you are in the 'Campaigns' -> 'Timelines' and you bring up the 'Toolbox'  tab then 'Resources'. It just lists 'All' with no folder abilities.

The same goes for when you  bring up the 'Scenes'. It just lists them 'All' not the folder structure I've created.

I currently use the Search function which works great when I know the name of the resource I'm looking for.

Its no biggie. I think I would rather see an ETA to the Ad Engine myself...

Thanks for all the hard work.

Yes. Thank you. Overlooked some the video tutorials. Too excited and just dove in. I'm reviewing the video tutorials now.
Thanks again,

New features and suggestions / Folders in the Resources

I'm loving this Digital Signage and the use of the Adobe AS3 Frameworks. Maybe I'm missing it, but as I build up my Resources I could see it getting messy real fast.
Would it possible to have folders and folders within folders? Just keep things tidy. Allowing drag and drop would be cool too, especially if an asset is no longer being used but possibly again in the future...such as dropping it into a 'Not Used' Folder.
We currently are using a different signage system and have been testing with this one as I love the open creativity of AS3 and layers and any box can hold any type of AS3 compatible assets.
