Title: vlc loop problem
Post by: janne on October 14, 2012, 08:30:56 AM
Hey guys,

i have a problem with the external app component.
I'm just Looping one video which is in mp4 format.
With an flv in h264 codec the smoothness of the video is really bad...
I use the vlc player with this arguments:

-I dummy-quiet --fullscreen  --no-video-title-show $File[419]

I also tried the --loop and the -repeat argument.

The Problem is, at the end of the video the mouse pointer and the vlc plyer window pop's up,
for just a half of a second...

Anyone know's the Problem?

THX for help

Is there any reason you're not just converting the file to something signagestudio/player can handle natively?

Hi,
yes.
The Reason that the flv with H264, without H264 or whatever looks not as godd as an mp4 playing with vlc....

It's an full HD Video.

I have no experience whatsoever with the external app component, so I can't help you there..
I have, however, achieved acceptable results using the media converter MediaSignage recommends (http://www.digitalsignage.com/html/media_file_conversion.html), playing a Full HD video on a Full HD monitor. Freemake does its job well.

When i play the flv on my mac it looks better, but when i upload it into the StudioCloud and then play it on the Signage player( i5 2.66 GHz, 4GB RAM)
it runs not smooth....
