Robert,

We just went through this - we had promises of HD TV capture but could only get 420p with the mediabox 300 and the dongle.

The resolution we came up with was a small factor PC / an Avermedia PCI card / and a fix to the digitalsignage launch scripts.

In total it came out to be less money than the NUC/Dongle and renders the TV screen division in full HD.  Works Perfect.

We are selling quite a few of these.  I can set you up with something that is ready to go.

I do not know why this worked for me but we added a 3 sec blank jpeg between each item on the timeline.  It reduced my lock ups considerably.

On a pc you can set the bios and or batch files to stop and restart on a schedule.  Google it - You could have it restart at 5 am and you should be good.

Just a heads up:

Ran a 6.0 player with a V6 Studio and a single image stored in a google drive folder flashes.  Could not figure out how to make it stop. I will have to stay on the older player and older studio until this bug is squashed.   

I do love the V6 Studio RSS Feed font size and speed fix - awesome!

Yes - I use the remote clear all the time.  Having to go into each account, and then each station, and then click on the little eraser is what I would like to have a better option for.

Also - at times - maybe 2 out of 10 cache dumps - the station ends up setting at the white connection screen and does not automatically restart.  The client has to power off and back on the player to get it going again.  Maybe watchdog is not catching it. (?)

Having an easy to add clear the cache event on a time schedule would be awesome as long as everything restarts cleanly.

Having a Dump All button that would do it for all users / stations / that are under my enterprise account would be very useful as well.

The main issue is it seems when we add an item to drive it shows up pretty quickly - when we delete an item from drive it may stay in the memory on the player for several hours or even days.  Dump the cache and it is gone.

For Clarification:

Will we still be able to send a link that allows a someone to preview a campaign without having to log into the studio?
If we open a campaign in full screen preview we will be able to grab the address line in the browser and share it or not?
If not will there be some solution for this other than doing a screen grab and uploading it to youtube?   Lastly - what is the time frame for this to be resolved.

Once 6.0 player is loaded and we use studio V6 there will be no "Flashing" if there is a single image in Google Drive?

New features and suggestions / Google Drive - Need Auto Cache Dump.

Seems like the fix to all things glitchy with google drive is to clear the player cache.

Could we have a timed item either as a resource that could be placed on a timeline or something in the station tab that would clear the cache on a schedule - every hour, at a certain time, or something?

With over 100 accounts it is difficult / time consuming to do this manually and I have not had much luck trying to automate it externally.

Just a heads up - In the new version 6 of the studio the Google Drive Scene no longer has a slideshow checkbox.   So if you have a single image in a Google Drive folder it will "flash" every 10 seconds or so.  (Because it is playing it as a slideshow).  There is no longer an option to turn slideshow off.

We need this fixed please - we commonly save single image menu boards for our clients in google drive folders and then change to different folders based on calendars and timelines.  (Breakfast to Lunch to Dinner to Weekends ect.)  On V6 the single image reloads over and over and over.............   The fix was to reload V5 of the studio and uncheck the slideshow box.

I changed the name in the directory on the studio install program so I could have both V5 and V6 on my desktop.

Heads up number 2: If you copy a campaign from an existing customer to a new one the copy feature does not work.  You will get an error message saying that you must save first.  The fix is to copy and paste to a word doc - edit it from save = 0 to save = 1.   Recopy it and then paste it into the new client setup.  This should be a quick and easy fix for the Dev guys.

Lastly:  The URL preview in the studio still is not working in either version of the studio - it does not layer correctly so if you have a full screen background the campaign contents will be covered completely by the background.  You can not even click on the "Full Screen" area as it is covered by the background.   

This is a huge issue - we use the URL preview to demo our services as well as a way to get approval on clients campaigns / changes before we go out and install the actual screen.   This has cost us several new clients in the past month or so.  It was so nice to be able to just send a clickable link to a prospect and share how one of our current clients use our email to TV service in real time.  I feel like one of my arms is tied behind my back when interacting with a new possible client.

I would like to thank MediaSignage for working with us to resolve our issues.

We were somewhat discouraged with the "Excitement" caused by the 6.0 release but everyone at DS stepped up to help us.

Ron and Mike in Live Chat are awesome. 

We still have a few issues that are being fixed but at the end of the day I will have a better product to offer to my clients.

I have done this with google drive and our email to TV service.

All the end user has to do is send an email with the attached images and they instantly become a slideshow on the TV's.

If a change needs to be made they just send a new email - Simple as that.

No need to get a new signage vendor - DS does this quite well.

I am posting to thank MediaSigange for resolving this issue.

One of our services allows persons with significant vision impairments to read emails and text messages directly on their TV's. 

We loaded the newest version of the Studio and now can create incredibly huge text along with wonderfully fast scrolling speeds!

FUN!

Recently we have also been selling this to retail clients as an alternative to the ugly and clunky "signtronix" type displays.


Summary:

We give our clients TV's an email address.

Our customers can simply send an email or text message directly to their TV and the content instantly scrolls across the screen.

They can add images to a slideshow and even change the background image simply by sending an email / text message.

Nothing for them to learn - it is just a TV and an email address.

I am still looking to partner with another Forum member to market this across a wider area - We are currently in 2 states.

No - the end viewer / user can't choose from a list.  If it is in the YT channel it will play.   It is fairly easy to add or delete items from a YT channel.

My issue was that the Official Ford YT channel only had Ford Videos. DigitalSignage.com would pull popular videos from YT in general that had nothing to do with Ford.  Some were vulgar.  Some were stupid. 

Never got a good answer as to why it worked that way and we ended up just downloading the YT videos we wanted and putting them in google drive.

Hope all is well

I tried this with a youtube channel component and it kind of sorta worked.  Had a problem with digitalsignage.com pulling videos that were not part of the specific youtube channel that I had connected to.   We were going to use this at a Ford dealer that just wanted to play the newest FOMOCO videos.  Ford has a great and current YT channel and they actively manage it. 

If this works you could host your videos in your own YT channel and they would play in order.  Add or remove from YT as needed.

They said it was going to be fixed in a later release.  Check with them and see if it is good to go

Had this happen to us with over 30 units in 3 states.  Thought I had all of my players set to not update but apparently missed these.  300 plus miles of driving - 4 days days of lost time - 2 lost customers.   Glad you consider this a minor bug.

Is this related to the same layering issue in the DS studio URL preview?  We have not been able to demo our service for several weeks and have resorted to showing old youtube videos instead of live url feeds. 

When is the new patch coming out?  Surely we are we not starting a new adventure like this one?

Revisiting this:

I do not see any changes to the RSS resource in the studio - can you send me information as to where it is and how it works?

We just need extremely large text scrolling from right to left at a speed equivalent to a typical adults reading level.
