Tried it on a Samsung 10.1, same thing happens, it is the HTML that crashes the App when network is lost.

Tried it on the PC version and it doesn't crash the App, the HTML element just goes blank.

We are using Android set top boxes, tried 4 different models, problem is the same on all.

Running the test now, seems OK with the HTML component removed.

How often does the RSS feed call out to the network?

We will want to use an HTML component though, so will need it to be resilient to loss of network.

Are you able to auto restart the app in the event of a crash?

There is a problem with the Android App if it tries to access live content (web pages or tickers) and the network is not present.

The app just crashes if it tries to access this content with no network.

App should not crash, it should continue to display the cached content if the network connection is lost.

This defect is preventing us from going live with our solution.

Also, it would be good if the App could auto restart if it ever crashes.

New features and suggestions / Android App Auto Restart on Crash
« on: April 22, 2012, 08:17:59 PM »
I know that the Android app is new, but it is unstable at the moment, I have put an entry into the Android Bugs thread.

It would be great if the Android app could auto restart if it crashes. The PC version has this feature. This will make it a more robust and reliable offering.

Are there any ways to set this up with third party apps or scripts before you introduce it as part of your product?

Report bugs and errors / Re: Signage Player for Android Bugs!

Using version 3.1.182 on an AC Ryan Veolo media player, running Android 2.2 with their latest firmware installed. OS shows as Linux on the stations display.

Works well, but the app just stops and disappears after a few hours.

Are there any logs I can look at to assist?

We have paid for the Enterprise edition, is this the correct forum for reporting bugs and gaining support?

UPDATE: The campaign was running two RSS feeds, a web page and rotating images on WiFi. I have simplified it enormously to just a rotating image with no divisions and it is stable. I understand that the Android version of the player is new, but would like to understand how far it can be pushed and if you know of anything that will break it. Any dos and don'ts?

UPDATE: Retrying the complex campaign with a wired network connection rather than WiFi.

UPDATE: Complex campaign is stable when using the wired connection. It appears then that the Signage Player may be crashing out due to WiFi drop outs. The WiFi I am using does not have a very strong signal, so I would expect it to be dropping out. Ideally, this should not impact the SignagePlayer stability.
