Do we have a time frame and will the functionality (RSS feed to "ticker") ?

Thanks so much!

Will "tickers" be able to be populated by an RSS feed?  If not then they will not solve my issue.

I take a text message, script it into an RSS feed, and then use DS to display it as a horizontal scroll across the center of the clients TV.

Any possible way to just change the upper speed limit on the RSS resource? It should just be a change to one line of code.

I am revisiting this request for change.

I sat with a lady today who has macular degeneration and when we increased the font size to something she could just barely see the text scrolled so slowly that she cried because of the frustration.

Our solution allows people who are almost completely blind to read text messages right on their TV's.  This is a good thing.  This is a needed thing.  For many it is the last option available to still be able to receive and read text messages.

We need to be able to increase the scrolling speed - these people need to have the scrolling speed increased.  PLEASE!

Ronnie on the chat is awesome - he is still working with me to find a solution.  He is a valuable asset to MS.

Any news or comments on this?  It is causing my clients headaches as the jpegs look fine in all apps but show up sideways in the DS player at times.  I have been told that this is an easy fix.  Simply pull/add the orientation tag to the image and the player will take care of the rest.

Thanks as always!

I am trying to connect to a public YT channel and have it play the videos in that channel.  It keeps playing a channel that has large number of national hits.

I have a Ford dealer that has a TV in his customer lounge.  He just wants the Ford service videos to loop.  I am currently having to monitor the channel and when a new video is added then I have to manually add to the list in the YT integration.

It would be awesome if this would work as described in the tutorial vids.

Do we have an update on this request for faster scroll speeds and larger fonts?

- Paul

My dropbox files show jpegs correctly - up is up.  It is reading the orientation tag and displaying them as it should.

The dropbox scene renders some of the images sideways or even upside down.  It is not reading the tag.

I can download all of the items from dropbox and manually rotate them so they are correct and re-upload them to dropbox.  After doing this the dropbox scene plays them correctly.

Can DS be updated to read the orientation tag and display the images correctly?

I was told a few weeks back that this had be forwarded to development for review.  Is there any update on this request?  I now have nearly 30 vision impaired clients that use a large font RSS horizontal scroll to read text messages.  They love the feature but hate the slow scroll speeds.

Thanks so much!

I am setting up a player for a VA hospital and the Government will not give me their private wifi network password.  They want me to use their public one but one has to agree to usage terms.  Can the driod be made to do this?

Thanks and that is wonderful.

I am making business decisions based on this so for clarity:

What is the estimated time for the upgrade?

Will it have faster scrolling speeds as well as larger text size?  - Scrolling speed is the most important feature for my vision impaired clients.  I have one that needs 15 in tall bright green letters on a black background and they need it to scroll at a normal reading speed.

Lastly - Will this new enhancement run on your lower end equipment such as the droid 90's that you used to sell?

Thanks so much for a great product and the great service.

New features and suggestions / Re: Scheduling Playback

I like the daily reboot functionality as it seems to make the player more stable/reliable however the only setting is to reboot everyday.  Unfortunately, I also use the power saving function which turns the player on and off at specific times each day.  May I suggest to make upgrade this toolset with more options such as:
1. Add the ability to reboot on certain days of the week
2. Add the ability to turn on and off multiple times per day
3. Instead of the media player automatically starting to play after a reboot by default, offer the option of the media player going back to the last known state to allow more control

Keep up the good work upgrading this application!

YES - Please!

I have had to put digital outlet timers on a few of my clients screens because watchdog does not detect certain freezes.    If I we could set a spec to restart the player every few hours then lots of problems would go away.

So - YES - Please!

Ronnie on the live chat was great with this but I would like to make a request for change (RFC).

I have low vision clients and we are using DS to create a large text scroll so they can read text messages sent to them.

The issue is that the larger the text size is the slower the scroll moves.  The slider for speed is not "long enough" and needs to have a faster setting (RFC).  Once we get above 6 or 8 inch tall letters the scroll speed becomes so slow that it is frustrating for them or even not usable.

Could it be changed that the speed option be a numeric box like text size is / and or / the slider made to have a higher fast side?

I have retail clients - If I could create a timeline with a huge horizontal scroll that moved quickly then I could market DS as an alternative to an expensive LED/dot matrix window signs.   We could have a nice background with 10 inch letters moving promptly across the center of the clients TV. Simple and would be very easy to market.

Thanks so much!

edit:  I have also noticed that the text size box also seems to have a maximum size of 720 - We can make the letters about 6 or 8 inches tall on a 32 inch TV, nice and big but we have clients that need even bigger text (another RFC).

In a nut shell we need great big freaking huge text scrolling across the screen at a quicker pace so our visually impaired clients can read at a normal adults reading speed.

Thanks again,

- Paul

General discussion on the mediaCLOUD / Re: Google Drive pdf

Tried this in G-Drive and Dropbox with no luck.

It almost looks like digitalsignage.com automatically see's the file type and simply skips it without even trying to render it.  This is good as it keeps things from locking.

If it could be allowed to launch I bet it could be scripted on the player end to open and display it.  It simply never gets sent to the player.

Thanks - That is what I landed on and it works.

FYI Zapier RSS is atom not RSS 2.0 so if you want pictures to scroll you have to insert them as a URL and not simply drag and drop into the message body.

Once Zapier upgrades their RSS feed then you can just drag and drop images into the message body.  Zapier said sometime in 2016.

One limitation is that it will only work scrolling vertically - I was hoping for horizontal.  But am pleased with the results.

Sounds like we are thinking the same way - Fun
