Report bugs and errors / Re: Problem changing label fonts
« on: May 28, 2010, 08:10:42 AM »
Label fonts can act very odd at times.  I've not had your specific problem, although I've found on more than one occasion that I can't directly select my target font.  Sometimes selecting another font and then going back to the one I wanted seemed to work.  Maybe I'm too impatient and something has to load in the system.  The color pallet has had similar quirks (although it seems to be better these days).
One other trick I've had to use when the label actually goes missing is to select a font, add some random text and then do a select all text (cntrl a).  Then select another font and the missing text appears.
In general, if something doesn't seem to be behaving, leave the scene or resource you are editing, open up another one, and then switch back.  I think the tool does some sort of synch during this process.  I've rarely had to eject from signage studio and relogin.
Hope this helps.

Report bugs and errors / Re: catalog player

sent per request with link to:

It would be helpful if one could zoom out on the the stage area in the scene editor.
If your stage is set for full HD, then it requires that your editing or composing system
exceed this by a significant margin, if you want to see the full stage without panning.
Or at least consider putting the playback control on a frame that doesn't move when
you pan the stage.  Its a hassle right now if you pan to the RHS of the stage.  The
playback control disappears on the left side.  And since you need to be stopped and
at the beginning of the playback to edit, you have to constantly pan back and forth.

Report bugs and errors / station preview
« on: May 27, 2010, 06:59:51 AM »
The player/player preview doesn't work for me (browser version).
I'm on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-GB; rv: Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729)
The background seems to load then gives this error msg (see below).
Its seems to be playing fine on the station (except for the catalog player bug).

Error was sent to server for further investigation.
sorry for the inconvenience

Nope.  Still doesn't loop.  Do you guys use a bug ticket system internally?

Something happened in one of the updates.  I'm using the catalog player application and it used to just cycle through the catalog.  Now it seems to get stuck on the last entry.  Has anyone noticed this problem?  I updated the player s/w and am on 2.0.196.

SignageStudio / change login account name
« on: May 20, 2010, 07:14:50 PM »
I would like to rename the login userid to the account that manages signage studio.
For example:
  existing:  peter@gmail.com
  new: signage_editor@gmail.com

Is there a way to do this?  Or somehow zip up all the content and move it across accounts?
I know I never should have used a personal email to set this up.  What are my options?

OK.  Just in case this helps sort out this issue.  I think I found a way to recover the text.  Your mileage may vary.  This might not be the only way to do it, but it seems to work for me.
1)  select a font.  Just about anyone but you have to select one from the list and not just use the default.
2)  type a character (any one seems to work).
3)  you should see the character.  If you skipped step 1, you won't even get this far.
4)  try to select all the text using cntrl a
5)  now select a new font.
6)  your old text now magically appears, appended by the new text you entered.  Very odd.
7)  pick the font you really want
8)  scrub out the added text

This is roughly the sequence.
What an adventure.

Nope.  All my text labels are totally MIA. I'm running signage player version 1.10.8 and AIR
My signage studio is the same.  Any other ideas?  Or am I basically hosed?

Report bugs and errors / Lost all my label text
« on: April 14, 2010, 08:57:56 AM »
At some point, all my label text got scrubbed out on multiple scenes I had composed about 1 month ago.
It is a mystery what happened.  I've gone back into the scene editor and all this content is missing.  The resource is still placed but the text inside the lable is totally missing.  Really.
This is on A LOT (looks like all) of my scenes so this is a MAJOR HASSLE!
Any ideas?  Its not just a font color issue or missing font.  The stuff is gone.  I only noticed now (it a long story;  the system was put on ice for a few weeks and I was just trying to get it running again).

SignageStudio / Re: Help on Media RSS/Podcast and Photo Shuffle.

But I want'd to modify the timing on the Media RSS/Podcast widget.  That is not in the "import scenes" but a component.  I guesss I'll just have to write my own Flash code to do the same function?  I was hoping to just hack at what your team put together.

Is there a way to preview the timelines that I build in the schedule environment?  When I trigger the URL on the Outputs, I was hoping that the different timelines would be previewed, depending which one I select.  This doesn't seem to happen.  I'm not even sure which timeline it selected.
It would be nice to be able to test out a timeline sequence for flow and transitions.

You guys must wonder what users do with your nice s/w.  I'm documenting this with the hope that it might save someone else some time.  It is sometimes hard to know if something is a bug.
If you set the "global" properties on a scene (in my case blur and alpha fade), it can prevent me out from observing if a resource that I placed on the stage of that scene was selected.  I can select it from the outline tab but the handles of the instance don't appear on the stage to indicate that it has been selected.  Maybe its my alpha and blur settings that also affect the "handles" on the instance extents window.  I didn't explore this too much.  It just took me a bit to figure things out.  It would seem that I inadvertantly set the blur and fade on the scene level.

I'm not sure that anyone at MediaSignage thinks this issue is real.  I think it is for at least two of us. Perhaps its pilot error.  Anyone else have this problem?  Thanks, Mike

You advised that the "component" is as it is, and to modify it, I need to download the source code (see above messages in this topic thread).  Problem is, I don't see how to do that for a component, and specifically for the Media RSS/Podcast component.  Please clarify your earlier statement.
