Well well. Looks like I am talking to myself.

Yes, summer time once again and the player is off by one hour. Windows time is correct but the player cannot handle the hour change.
I need to adjust all my campaign schedulers to match the real time.

Remembering previous years, the one hour off time was corrected after the day changed. Don't know where the player gets its false time. Something built-in or what?


This really keeps coming up every year and it is totally awesome since you need be alert with this one. Just to give you heads up everybody.

Please check also the player. Couple of things to investigate.

1. Don't know when or which version 6 update broke the video playback, but now you can see the videos stretched from the bottom or from the right side. If i would use a 1440x900 px screen and add a screen division that has 1092 x 84 px size, you can see clearly that the video is stretched. And yes, I do have my videos in correct resolution.

2. I wanted test the stretched image effect on older player build 5.0.99. All hood here, but the events are not working for me on anymore.

And
3. Can you remove the ext/app text from the version 6 player. When I load an external program, the text appears on the screen.

Updates to the version 6 has been pouring in, but still much of the needed functions are missing or still in state of development?

Looking forward to see the version 6.1 with new improvements.

With the version 6.0.38 the "beta" tag has disappeared. I dont see it anymore.

Yes, couple of weeks ago when the DST time changed. I noticed this for the second time that the players were 1 h behind. Same thing happened last year. Well, manual adjustement had to done and later that day fix that 1h transition manually back to normal. When that Sunday ended and changed to monday, everything worked well.

We have used Android sticks. They do work as long they have enough RAM, good CPU and wifi reception.

We have always had to use automated digital timers to switch off the Android sticks. For example, the previous models do work for 2-3 days straight, but eventually the sticks can get stuck and not respond. Or, the Wifi connection drops suddenly after 48h of use. Many suppliers still use Android 4.2.2 version and everybody seems to have different ROM installed to the system. Some versions cannot be connected to the Google Play to get the automated updates. All kinds of funky stuff can happen, just to let you know.

I don't know the current state of the sticks, how good they work or has there been any major updates. As for the shutdown, I don't think it is even possible to shut the system down like Intel NUC player. You can boot the system, if the Android is rooted. But this boot is not same as power off.

Yeah, the price is lower than the normal Windows player.

For a simple slideshow these Android sticks do work.

Hi.

At the moment the JSON data works nicely. Video playback duration comes from the video lenght. The images has static interval duration, for example 10 seconds or whatever you want.

I would be an excellent addition to control the image interval from the JSON data array directly. Now we can setup JSON resources but this image duration is still missing.

Hi.
Yeah, same with Windows PCs. For example, when internet is disconnected and no connection is present, the player can play cached resources.
But, when Internet connection is limited or it keeps dropping and eventually re-connecting, the screen goes black. When Internet connection is back and in good status, the cached resources are back on screen.

Solutions?

Like many before, the updated linux or raspberry player would be greatly appreciated.

Adobe decided to release updates to the flash player. So now after many years later the flash player is up to date.. :D
Any plans to get back on the linux platform, since the flash player is now up to date? Or as a future roadmap to develop new linux or raspberry player?

Black Screens here at two different screens.

Hi. Question.. are you using HTML-components on your timelines? What type of network are you using? LAN or Wifi?

One screen is still having black screen now and then. This player uses 4G wifi. My opinion is that, this type of network device is not the most reliable. Yes, it works but the network speed is not the fastest. When the player is playing/looping the timeline, the HTML-components are loaded every time from the links. If the connection is lost, the HTML-component displays only a white screen. But, somehow the player goes completely black and stuck at some point. When player is stuck, i have seen that a white screen tries to flash on the screen division. Only a player reboot helps.

I was thinking about the possibility that the blackout is caused due to the 4G network? I have also experienced blackouts on good Wifi environments. The problem was that the player Wifi connection to the router was established, but the internet connection was having problems. Result was instant blackout. Nothing on screen, player could not play the cached resources. This problem was achieved on Android devices.

Problem that is still on the top shelf. Looking for solutions.

New features and suggestions / Looping policies

Hi.

Don't know if anyone has already posted a request about the different loop policies.
I was thinking on couple of resource functions:

First one:
I would have a 10 minute timeline and the image or video would play on every minute (01:00, 02:00, 03:00... etc). The resource would have a property that it would overrun other resources that don't have any looping policy.

Second one:
Resources would play automatically on specific screen division. For example, one of my campaign timeline starts with screen division that is full screen. Then the screen is divided to two different divisions. Resources are played on upper and lower division. After that, it will change back to the full screen. At the moment I need to set all my resources to the timeline and on specific places where i want them to play. This requires lots of clicks and setting up. Management of this takes lots of time too.

The idea would be that, when resources or scenes, that are being played on screen, they would automatically change the screen composition / screen division. For example this would be built-in function to the ADNet. You could select divisions where you want resources to be played, if you have multiple divisions. Then you could simply select the resources that would use these properties when they are played on screen.


Ok, there are just two ideas. You guys could think all kinds of looping policies.

Hi.

Noticed that when the summer time changed the scheduler timing was off. I have set the clock on my players to the real time and its ok. The scheduler was -2 hrs off from the regular timing.
Has anybody else had any problems? Is the problem at the mediaserver clock or on my campaign/player time. Everything has worked just fine until the summer time update.
