I would be fine with sticking with the Air version but I have multiple clients making use of the Dropbox feature which is not part of the Air version. Is there any way I can get this escalated? As I said, I am willing to pay for a solution.

Have been experiencing an issue regarding the AverMedia AVerTV HD DVR internal capture card and the exe version of Signage Player. I've been on chat for hours about this and have also emailed a support ticket. Still waiting for an answer. Adding to the forums to get user input.

This is what occurs:

1. Signage Player loads.
2. Through the External App component, Player launches AVer_MediaCenter.exe. (MP4 video content is simultaneously playing in a  separate zone.)
3. After about 4-8 seconds into the Aver Media Center load, Player crashes and closes out. Aver Media Center remains on the screen. Player auto starts back up, but Aver Media Center does not
restart as it is already launched.
4. AverMedia does not auto load the capture feed (it remains on the capture screen). It's as though the crash stops it from auto loading.The capture feed of AverMedia has to be manually started. But whenever Player or Station restarts, it gets stuck on the capture screen of AverMedia.
5. When AverMedia is launched on it's own without Player, it does not auto load the capture. This only occurs when done through Player, and only successfully occurs when through the AIR version of Player.

This issue does not occur on the AIR version of Player, only the EXE version. We have tested on 4.33, 4.34, and v.5.0.68 and have had the same results across all. Have tested on Windows 7 and 10, Home and Pro editions, 32 and 64 bit versions. Hardware is Intel i5 with 4GB RAM.

We tested with a different internal capture card, the Hauppauge Colossus 2. It uses different software and we had no crash issues. However, the Hauppauge card and software had sluggish playback and is not a viable alternative.

Anyone else having a similar experience or able to shed some light on the issue?

When using the Dropbox component, and trying to show content from a Dropbox folder that has a special character in its name, including apostrophes, the content of that folder will not show through in Signage Player, despite showing through in Signage Studio.

As soon as the special character is removed from the folder name, the content displays as it should through Signage Player.

Please can this be fixed as we often do not have control over the naming of folders.

Not sure if the same issue applies to file names?

Testing on SignagePlayer v.4.34.35 on Windows based systems.

What format is your video content in? A few years back, we noticed that, over time, FLVs and MOVs would somehow become corrupted and just show black. We would actually have to reload to the signage cloud via Studio to get them working again. Seems weird because you would think once cached to the drive, shouldn't matter what happens on the cloud. But there you go.

We switched to MP4 and have not had this problem since.

SignagePlayer / Kiosk and Events in Browser Preview

I'm trying run a campaign from my work computer to be used as a presentation to colleagues. I simply want to be able to rotate through videos and images I've assembled using the collection component. My triggers are all setup using events. It works as should through SignagePlayer. But I would prefer to run it through my browser using the "Preview in External Browser" mode, because several people will view through remote meeting software and I need access to those controls in Windows. The usual SignagePlayer mode overrides mostly everything, which is not ideal.

My events don't respond in this preview mode. Do they not function correctly through the browser? Any other suggestions on how to achieve this.

What do you make of Adobe's choice to rename Flash? They're clearly trying to push it out and get people to stop using it. What would that mean for the future of the Signage platform running in AIR?

I just don't understand why you can't upgrade your native HTML component to support HTML5. The Firefox hack is so messy.

I've tried upgrading to Internet Explorer 11 in the vain hope that would make some difference, because I know the HTML component uses some kind of Internet Explorer framework. But still, my HTML 5 apps are limited in their functionality due to the limitations of the HTML Component.

This is so frustrating because your software has the potential to be 1000 times more versatile if you did have HTML5 support. If you're trying to market it as 'open-source digital signage', don't you think the majority of people aiming to use your software would be the self-sufficient types who are likely developing their own apps already?

I've done everything recommended. UAC is turned off and autoStartsignage.bat is in present in the Startup folder with no other signage controller there. I'm still getting a 'Not running' status for the Watchdog. Experiencing this on all systems running the exe version.

Anyone else?

I was not aware of this ability. Can users manage Pro accounts from the Lite interface? If so, is there any special way to go about doing it? It does not seem to work for me. Same problem as ANOOP with perpetual load.

Thanks for posting @blackfox123. Glad to know I'm not the only one experiencing these troubles and frustrations.

I agree that focusing developing efforts on a stable HTML5 component is far more valuable than providing tons of gimmicky, sort-of-work apps. I had my own social media integration apps developed before mediasignage released theirs, whic I use through the HTML component. The capabilities of what I had developed are far greater than what mediasignage offers in their own apps, but they are severely crippled by the limitations of the current HTML component, and are not reliable through the inefficiency and instability of the browser component/webkit.

Stop trying to sway us with hundreds of features and just provide a clean, simple, reliable platform. That's how mediasignage started, but in the past years it's deteriorated by trying to do too much instead of focusing on doing a few things perfectly.

I'm running SignagePlayer 4.34.35 on Windows 7 Home, Intel i3, 4GB RAM.

Implemented the Browser Component into a scene and into a timeline and ran overnight. There were issues reported in another post (http://script.digitalsignage.com/forum/index.php/topic,5937.0.html), but this morning when I checked, I had several other serious issues relating to the node webkit. Please see attached images.

Has anyone else encountered this using the webkit? Admin, are you aware of these issues?
