Execute TrueConf Client on DigitalSignage Player
« on: November 30, 2020, 07:25:59 PM »
Is there a way to make a video conference with the TrueConf Client run embedded in the DigitalSignage Player? Any script or command?

the most you can do is launch TrueConf Client from the player provided that you are using Windows device as your player.  you will launch the client using Ext/App Capture component where you will put the path to the program in AppName  field and any command line parameters in Command Line field of said component.

Note: other than launching and passing command line parameters is the most the player can do and have no control over the client.

There is currently a company in Argentina that makes the videoconferencing application run and display as if it is part of the DigitalSignage Player components. How would they be doing it?

external apps can be made to seem like it is part of the signage player application by making the external app's window appear on top of our player's window.  however, if its really a component, one way is to make a custom component using webkit which is limited to web interface.  the other way would be to create a flash component so you can access the device's hardware - this however is outdated and had been dropped since the release of version 6 of our platform.  either of the two options would require research and development on your part.

Note that other than giving you these interfacing options, it is beyond the scope of digitalsignage.com's support to develop this nor will it be prudent for us to share the work of digitalsignage's customer.  that said, you can either ask the company directly or wait for a reply from other forum users who'd be willing to share this information.

Hi, using the external app component, it is possible to make it not rerun on the timeline. For example, if vlc.exe is executed, it remains in standby mode and does not reload the vlc.exe application.

you can use Common Channel instead - the instance will be active as long as the player is active.
