Protected Channels/Screen Divisions
« on: December 28, 2010, 09:37:05 AM »
Is there a way to lock down a screen division and channel so that other account users can't delete/modify it?  I'm using the signage for corporate communications, and I have centralized corporate content that MUST be displayed in every region/country.  However, I want local admins to log in and use the remainder of the screen real estate to design screen divisions and channel content specific to their areas.  Using common channels doesn't get me there: local admins still have the option of not displaying a common channel if they choose.  I need to guarantee that a screen division/channel is displayed at all times with content I push out.  Any solutions?

If you are a reseller, you can take full advantage of the multi user management tools including access control lists.
This will allow you to manage multiple users and set rights and permissions to the SignageStduio (even hiding complete sections of the Studio for certain users).

To learn more about this functionally, be sure to watch these video tutorials:

Thanks for responding, Eddie, but the reseller access control lists don't seem to address the problem I was describing.  The reseller control lists allow me to lock out an entire function, such as the ability to edit screen divisions, but they don't allow me to lock down a specific screen division INSIDE the function.  I was trying to find out if I can create a single "corporate" screen division within a larger screen of, say, 3 additional "regional"  screen divisions.  I want to be able to assign a channel to the corporate division and protect just that one division and channel inside the screen design while allowing other authorized users to change the screen design and content of the remainder of the screen. Perhaps this isn't supported in the current version?

Well, I think, what you should do is use Scenes, and give the users only access to specific Scenes.
And that scene, will be assigned by you the Admin to some screen division.
I think that should work for you, no?

I hadn't thought of using scenes in that way--I'll give it a shot and see how it works.  Thanks for the suggestion.
