Which web browser and what settings to use?
« on: February 04, 2020, 10:52:09 PM »
Hello averyone.
Please what do you use to show web content? I've used Firefox, but it´s getting worse and worse.  :(
It used to work great, with extensions like Hide Menubar, Hide Nav Bar, Hide Tabbar, etc. Then these ext. became unavailable, so I've used userChrome.css, then they blocked it, so we had to allow toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets, but now I can not find working extension to auto close tabs. In our setup we are showing a lot of different contents (videos, pictures), including several web sources, which ends up in error, due to multiple connection to the server (as FF is not closing older tabs with the content). And what is worse, when there should be shown other content after web (Firefox), Digital Signage player does not goes over FF and all content is played on the background, under FF window!
This totally destroyed functionality, which was workind in a last few years...  :'(
Thank you for any advices.

an alternative is to use Chrome instead of Firefox.  Chrome has command line switches that allows you to open the browser window in full screen or if you wish to cover a screen division. the latter however will still show borders and a title bar but no menus, toolbars nor toolbars.

the App Name would simply be: C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe
if you are using Windows x64, use: C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe

for full screen use the following format in the Command Line: --kiosk "http://www.digitalsignage.com"
for use with screen division use this format: --app="http://www.digitalsignage.com"

best regards
