Hello everyone,
I am currently working on a project where i have to split several videos over 3 vertical screens. the screens are all 1080x1920p so the total resolution is 3240x1920p.
The whole thing will be played during a Thater performance, but the videos are only a few minutes long each. So i have to be able to set up a playlist and play each video on command with some kind of a controller or a computer.
I've already figured out 3 possible ways to do it, but none of them seems to be the perfect solution.
1. I will use the program resolume avenue4 (or any silmilar program) on my macbook pro 15" (mid 2015) which has two thunderbolt and one HDMI output. So i could feed the 3 screens directly from my macbook by using an adapter on the thunderbolt outputs. The video would be split up directly in Avenue. This seems to be the easiest option. But i tried it out yesterday and my macbooks graphic card seems to be too slow to process all the data and the videos didn't play fluent. i have't tried the DXV codec(when exporting the videos) that resolume suggests on theire website. it would maybe work better with that codec, but it still seems to be a bit unsecure to play it from my macbook, because the program could crash during the performance or something like that.
2. I would use a matrox triplehead2go or anything similar to split up the video signal and send only one signal from my macbook. i would then still need a program like avenue4 to send the video to the matrox triplehead2go, but my macbook would not have to split the video, so it would maybe work more fluent.
this would cost a bit more but would maybe be a bit more secure then the first option.
3. I would use 3 brightsign xd1030 player (one for each monitor). This seems to be the most professional option but also the most expensive. Also would i have to learn how to program these players (which isn't the easiest thing) and set up a network between them to run them all simultaneously.
