« on: October 29, 2015, 03:46:59 PM »
I searched the forum and didn't find any recent information and wanted to know if anyone can recommend a reliable MediaSignage supported 4K hardware player ?

we did support it earlier this year but disabled the feature as it increased CPU speed and honestly no one could even tell the difference.
At this point we believe for DS, it's just hype.
We will introduce it as
  • options next year but not on by default as we did.

So the Windows Player will NOT support 4k is that true ?

I agree it might be overkill for DS but it so happens I a client who is installing 4k monitors because they want to display high res images.

I am also interested in being ready for 4K.
I want to be "HARDWARE READY" for possibly the Next Best Thing.
I believe the following conditions must be met to be successful.
Media Signage must re-introduce the screen size option of approximately 3840 by 2160 pixels.
Our moderator mentioned that it was previously an option. And that it was to be reintroduced in early 2016. IS THAT STILL TRUE ?
It would appear that even the BEST standard players will have to work far too hard and create too much heat to run 4K on a constant 24 Hour/7 day a week schedule.
The player should be an Intel 7 Quad Core with Separate Video Processor (like Nvidia Processor with maybe 4 MB of its own Ram)
Does one then need a solid state hard drive (SSD) and is there separate FLASH RAM also needed to properly run the Media Signage Software.
This will be my first venture into Digital Signage. It will be primarily FAST MOVING VIDEO and it's going into a large store with lots of pedestrian traffic. I want it to be PERFECT with NO STUTTER. I think the Media Boxes offered are fabulous for 1080P productions, but can you suggest a alternate player for my purposes?
Perhaps other (which only runs at 60 frames per second, I would prefer 120 frames per second) or some other heavy, industrial player brand?
Thank you everyone for your thought on this subject

yes we will add it early next year and we DO support today 4095x4095
so far from surveys we conducted, 4K in DS at least is just hype... and not desired tech for most.
and yes, both the mediaBOX and mediaDROID-X will support it so any hardware you buy today will work... we just disabled it in software.

I know this is an old thread but was not able to find info on the web site regarding 4k playback.

I agree that 4k is not necessary but I have a client who uses their 4k TV to display high res photos in their store.
The display is driven by a high end windows PC and I would like to be able to utilize this system for a digital signage system.

1. Has there been an upgrade to the Windows player to support 4k ?

2. Is there a player / hardware combination that supports 4k ?
