Location based ads
« on: November 10, 2015, 02:00:34 AM »
For the location based ads a raspberrypi and GPS module is being used for communicating with the player. If we are using a PC as the signage player, can we connect a GPS USB logger to do the same. Is it essential that we need a raspberry pi to send the events? Can the signage player itself send an event using the USB logger

you can use ANYTHING to send GPS events... a small App in Android (Java based), Arduino, iPad Tablet with an App... anything that can use HTTP Post to send the current GPS coords via our sendRemote or sendLocal command interface... very simple and very flexible...

My doubt is can i have a gps dongle on the PC that is running the signage player. Or do we need another computing device with gps to trigger events.

if you can find a USB / GPS dongle for Windows that you can poll every few seconds with their included driver, and current GPS coordinates (which I am sure you can find) it will work perfectly... if you need assistance with sending the commands to the SignagePlayer we can help... no prob.

Location based ads

Im not sure if this is really cloaking, but I guess its a type of ip delivery. Heres what I want to do. There are many sites, search engines, ads that deliver different contents based on your location. Similarly, I want to show different ads based on the visitors city since its a local ad. Any idea how its done, or can anybody point me to a right direction?
