How do you embed a Swf file ?
« on: July 25, 2015, 05:49:42 PM »
I thought you create a scene and then add the .swf file to the scene.
But when I do nothing plays on that scene. The .swf file plays fine by itself in my browser.
I'm I doing something wrong ?

Thanks

How did you make the SWF? You may have to check "Trust Content" in the resources section and Save. Without knowing how it was made or what it does, it is very hard to give advice.

Thanks Criley for reply.

I am just testing with Flash Builder....I created a project and exported to .swf.
It works on my computer and works from the web,I'll post link for you.

http://www.regener8.com/Music/TESTFlex.swf

So since it worked on web I assumed it would work if I uploaded as a resource ?

Thanks

Do you know what SDK you were/are using? Using 4.6 works without issue.

I just tried it with adding the external swf component and it works when played in a player. I have not been able to get it to work in the browser component. Are you trying to get it to work directly on the timeline/scene without the use of a component? did you select "trust content" when you saved it and did you try selecting "3rd party swf" when saving as well?

Thanks for help Criley.

Sorry new to all of this not sure which SDK you are refering to...DigitalSignage software or Flash builder..which is 4.6.

I first tried just a scene and uploaded the .swf which as you said didn't work.
I tried using External swf/image and put the link but that didn't work for me either.

I guess I am going to see about trusted content not sure where to save that but will re search...weird how it works in a browser.

Go to resources and select the swf. On the right I the column, you will see the selections. Choose and save. Try that. Email me the swf if you want me to try.

ok...great Thanks Criley...yes worked if I selected 3rd party....so it now appears !

i will just have to play around with different sizes as only problem I see is that the SWF stays in foreground and if you go to file save the pop up box appears behind the SWF file and you can't click on it....support says it's just limitation of working with SWF which I understand...but can work around it by resizing 100% window.

3rd party swf's are clumsy to work as they keep popping up in foreground.. Better to build native swf's using adobe flash builder

He did use Builder Anoop. Because he is using data of sorts, it appears that Trust must be enabled and not 3rd party. the SDK is correct.  @Regener8, can you send me the project so I can have a look? If you are access data or a webservice, you will need to enable trust. I do this for my real estate clients so it accesses the database.

Thanks for all your help Criley

Anoop yes I used Flash builder for middle section...instead of uploading a swf and ended up using HTML component for my menu system in middle.

Here is the final result.
