Screen resizes when monitors are turned off
« on: November 01, 2014, 06:19:59 AM »
We are running new media 300 boxes at 1920 x 1080 (monitors are set at 1920 x 1080)  v4.20.48  When the client turns off the monitor at night then turn them on in the morning the screen resizes to 1/4 of the screen.  I was able to reboot remotely and it corrected itself.  Is there something else I can do to lock this in?

Thanks for your help in advance.

This is mentioned in multiple topics before.

The problem is caused by Windows not regonizing the screen properly when already running and the screen is turned of later than the player. So to fix it: start te screen first THAN start the player.
You can also put a monitordetectkiller.com between them. This device will make a one-way only in the hdmi cable. So the monitor can't talk back to the player. This way the player (and windows) doesn't know the monitor is shut down and this problem won't occure when turning the monitor on again.

You're welcome.

You can also try to lock the screen resolution in the intel display driver. This way the player forces the settings you want to the display (even if it is not supported). Not all drivers support this, because it may brick your display in case the wrong settings are forced, but since you know what resolution and refresh rate is supported you can also try this.
In any case, the detection device works flawlessly.

Just tested this on the latest version 4.34.25 and screen scaling works perfectly, when tvs resolution is changed on the fly.

Worst case is you might have to go the hardware route which is monitordetectkiller.com.
