It has been a challenge so far :)

1. Keyrings issue with wifi connector - The wifi manager was asking for the default keyring everytime it tried to connect. This is a Ubuntu "Feature" :) . I had to follow the steps from this link to fix that - newbielink:http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=2776815&postcount=1 [nonactive]

2. Wifi Auto connect on boot doesn't work! The wireless connection is setup to auto connect, but it never does it on Boot. I have to manually initiate the connection. Still trying to find a solution to this.

3. AirPlayer crashes - We are testing with a content provider. It works as a SWF file, which downloads content (images) from an external server. It is a very small loop of 1 minute. It seems to be working fine, but I saw the player crashing at least 3 times in one hour. Sent you the crash log files in a separator email. Please help me figure this out.

4. Image Flickering - I also noticed that there is little flickering on the image every once in a while. Not sure if its Ubuntu, the AirPlayer running on Ubuntu or hardware.

Hope this helps.

Arun.

Hi Arun,

1. For the Keyring, please see the http://mediasignage.com/files/BLACKBOX_Manual.pdf section 4.4
It explains how to remove the Keyring prompting

2. Same as #1

3. We are working with this content provider and expect to have a special component set for this provider as part of SignagePlayer.
This will happen in the next month or so...

4. The Flickering is a known issue but ONLY if you use HTML component. If you do want to use the HTML, use the External Application with FireFox.

Thanks for the tips for resolving Keyring issue.

About the Flickering, our signage is using a simple SWF file that connects to an external server to read a Media RSS feed, parses the information and gets the respective content from the server. This is happening all in Flash, don't think there is any HTML component involved.

The Flickering is due to a bug in Adobe AIR Linux version with respect to embedded resources.
And so, you need to troubleshoot your swf:

1. Make sure that all resources are embedded in your swf (including fonts)
2. Make sure all images are embedded
3. Reload the swf and try again.

Well I have never tried Linux before so I decided to give it a try and managed to get it installed and  I also got the media signage player installed as well. Then the screen saver kicked in and messed up things. I managed to get that fixed and then the turn off monitor after 30 minutes idle kicked in. It all seems to be working fine now but I can't help but wonder what else I am missing. A one or two page document explaining exactly how to go about setting up all the paramaters in ubuntu would be very helpfull. I must confess that the thought of NOT sending Billy Boy $ 100 for every player is attractive. Linux reminds me of my old DOS days and if I can figure it out it would be a bonus.

Cheers!

I am having flickering while running Linux and the Catalog Component. It runs fine on Windows WEBPlayer, but I have severe flicker while running it on Linux. I don't think it is hardware, as my memory has never spiked beyond capacity, but it could be my internal graphics processor.
I have ordered the low end player from you and hope it will run fine on that. I would really like to present this product with the catalog option, however at the moment it must come off. Reloading it has limited success, only once did it not flicker but there is no way of telling.

Also, is there a reason why sometimes images load and other times I have to delete and reload them from local? Also, your "build home" and "401k" flv. and swf. files don't load all the time. Some times they will, sometimes they will take a while and other times the will scale small and "out of frame." I want to be able to load this presentation onto my player when it arrives so I can install it in a cafe. If you have any insight I would greatly appreciate it.

Apologies if some of this belongs in other threads.
