Access Key on Channels
« on: March 08, 2015, 10:46:05 AM »
When we setup a customer up -- we have multiple layers and 'zone's' (channels)

I would prefer a customer not to mess with these -- as they affect the whole look and feel of the sign.

It's been mentioned before... but not sure how difficult it is

Utilize "Access Keys" on specific channels / zones so customers either can't see that particular zone/channel

Possible?

Currently - no -

That's why it's in the "new features and suggestions" forum.

I am not sure at what level and it really should be for any aspect of the system but here is an excerpt from another thread.

http://script.digitalsignage.com/forum/index.php/topic,4373.0.html

Well, not exactly. A true system that would mirror what everyone is looking for would be the Studio Pro that allows the manager to restrict access and viewing rights to any part of the system. Each resource would be able to be placed into a work group and/or sub work groups where users are given permission to access those work groups and only those work groups. This would include the campaigns and timelines as well. Not to mention the ability to only show the components we wish to be seen by certain work groups and roles. I think you are close, but there needs to be some modification to the access codes to allow unlimited codes, but rather than access codes, use work groups so the managers can create groups that are meaningful to them and their clients.

ok noted, yes we do have plans to enhance the privileges and permissions...

Right now, as it stands there is already a user created and we assign the user a specific role which would be fine for the system as a whole as to what they can do such as adding Campaigns, Timelines, Screens, Scripting and so fort, but as far as viewing, this should be done at a specific work group level. This would be very handy for large places such as schools and governments and large companies who may have multiple sites like franchises. So, a Starbucks for instance may have Corporate level items they wish to have on the screens at all locations as it is a general item, while the local store can add in their specials and anything that may be specific to their community store, all the while not messing with the main display and only their screen division or timeline.

Thank you --

As the other post is from Nov, 2014, it would be great as an update.

It seems there are multiple uses for this feature.
