Third party slideshow makers and swf files
« on: December 16, 2009, 09:05:39 AM »
Hello, I'm trying to play a swf file made from a slideshow maker software but it won't play in the signage player.

David told me on the chat that the reason was that it was not using Flex (the others swf examples in airstudio play fine).

So I'm asking for help for any idea how to make this work in a simple way. I like the way the slideshow is easily created with my actual software and I've been looking for a way to make it compatible with the signage player but no luck... What would be then a simple way to make a slideshow for the player that works?

I'm working for a school and we'd like to make slideshows of pictures taken at school. It means putting together about a hundred of pictures that will change every week. That's why we are looking for a simple tool to achieve this. We also don't have a budget for buying expensive softwares (like CS3/4).

Thanks a lot for your help!

PS : David, I took note of the coming feature of dynamic templates, but I'm not sure it will fit our needs for a slideshow of many pictures that is often changing (or maybe it will?)

Anoop,
www.flash-slideshow-maker.com embed the resources in the swf ?
If not, how do you use it?

The application adds the pictures and creates a slideshow and makes it into a swf file. I will send the one that i have created by mail as the size is big here to be attached

Thanks for the hint Anoop!

Strangely, the software I'm using is very similar to the one you suggest (almost the same interface but with a different name). So I wondered why wouldn't it work and I tried a new basic slideshow with all the default options and it worked!

After further investigation, it seems that when I choose the option "Remove control buttons" the swf file is not loading. But sometimes it doesn't load at all, even with the controls on (I have to save the project on AIRStudio and restart the station for it to load again -> bug?)
Also, longer slideshows seem to be more problematic that short ones.

Anyway, when it loads it works perfect and that's a big step!

Each SWF maker tried to emulate SWFs from Adobe Flash...
So many do not work well with Flex, go with the one Anoop suggests as it seems to do the trick.

Thank you Sean.

Even with the software Anoop suggest I have the same issues. I just have to make sure not to choose the option "Remove control buttons"
