Volume Issues

Am I missing something blatantly obvious? Or is there no way of controlling volume through your software?  I have a number of .mp4 files that have similar, but not exact audio levels.  What is the best way of smoothing these variations out without changing the original files?

Sure,

Select the Video you have dragged over to the TImeline.
Double click, or click on the Pencil icon.
Under the Video Properties (3 tab), slider the slider to control the video volume respectively.
