4.30.22 EXE Bugs and Issues
« on: December 11, 2014, 08:47:59 AM »
I'm running Player 4.30.22 on Windows 7 Home 64, Jetway NF9J-Q87 motherboard, Intel i5, 4GB RAM, 120GB SATA, with Aver Media Capture Card.

1. Sometimes when I go to restart Player from Studio, Player closes out along with the watchdog and does not auto restart. Have to manually start Player or restart Windows to get operational again.
2. When AverMedia launches as an external app, presentation locks up. However, when I go to move the mouse, it has the resize window command already selected, so that as I move the mouse it scales the AverMedia window. Once I click, AverMedia reverts to the size assigned to its channel and Screen Type partition in Studio, and presentation resumes playback. Seems like there might be a bug occurring in the sizing of the external application matching the dimensions set in the Screen Type for that partition. Not occurring consistently.
3. The majority of the time, Watchdog is not active. Often I have a green doughnut in Studio instead of a solid circle. Cannot restart Player as a result, and seems to be causing issues with external app component as well.
4. Updated to Air v.15, but Studio and Player menu are saying v.3.6.06090, even though Windows is saying v.15.

Please let us know.

Thanks

When the watchdog status is not active can you check the players running processes to see if Watchdogdesktop.exe is still running.
Regarding the Aver Media App,  we have seen this happen when Aver Media Center 3d cant get a signal from the source (either Antenna or cable tv) right away.  Please make sure that input sources are properly configured and connected and you have setup Aver Media Center to use the correct input source.

Please keep us updated, because we cant recreate the current issue you are running into.  Our test station running on a Mediabox 300W and a MediaTV USB has been running perfectly for the past 6 hours of testing will keep it running for the next few days to see if we encounter the same issue you are running into.

Watchdogdesktop.exe is running according to Windows Task Manager, but Player is still showing that it's not. There is *32 next to Watchdogdesktop.exe. Note sure if that means anything?

AverMedia continues to be buggy. The video feed displays on the correct input if brought up manually, but upon player restart, it does not auto-load through the capture. Something else that has come up is Windows framing of the external app. There is a border around the AverMedia window, like it would appear on the Windows desktop. It's hit or miss as to when it loads like this. Sometimes I'll do a manual reboot, and it'll load with the frame. Sometimes if I close out Player.exe and manually restart it, it'll load without the frame.

I'm using Aver MediaCenter 3D, product version 1.7.9 [Build 12120509] with C027 PCIe HD Capture Device driver v. 1.52.64.37. This has always worked flawlessly on previous versions of Player up until around 4.20 of SignagePlayer.

What about the other bug regarding Air version?  Have seen this occurring on multiple players.

*32 means its 32bit app.  We are looking into the watchdogdesktop issue and are currently running multiple test stations to see if we can isolate the issue. The windows framing comes up if you have a mouse pointed on the ext app and disappears as few a few seconds.  we are running tests with the Aver Media app as well and have not encountered any issues at all.

The AIR version is a non-issue since the exe installer has its own built in AIR runtimes and it doesnt use the one installed on your PC.

So no need to worry about AIR updates anymore?
