Got it downloaded from some other site. Doesnt this support audio capture? I have a webcam and was trying to capture the audio and run it in the signage, the audio was not working.

What's the difference between VirtualVCR and VLC?  Is one preferred over another?

Virtual VCR is designed for Capture card support.
VLC is used to a ton of other stuff including all format media support, DVD support, Live Streaming and MUCH more...

OK, I know this is a MediaSignage support forum, and not a Virtual VCR support forum, but in case anyone can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it...

I'm running Windows XP on an older test machine before the new hardware arrives, but we have the video capture hardware - we're using the AVerMedia AVerTVHD MCE A180 HDTV Tuner Card, using the latest drivers from this page:  newbielink:http://mediasignage.com/html/digital_signage_capture.html [nonactive]

What I'm seeing is that when I run AverTV, everything is fine, but when I run Virtual VCR, I'll see an initial correct video image, then everything turns black.  I followed the settings from the video tutorial.

What I do notice is in Virtual VCR, when I go to device settings, the Video Proc Amp is showing a brightness of 0, and when I press the Default button, it jumps to 128, I see the video for just a brief second, then it goes back to a black screen again.

If anyone could help me troubleshoot this, I'd really appreciate it!

I followed the tutorial and have Virtual VCR installed and working properly.  I can launch it from the command line and everything works great.  I configured the ext application with the path to the executable and added the profile just like the tutorial.

In the air player all I see is a black box and the word "Air" in white on the top left of the channel... I've checked and double checked my settings and fiddled with everything but the result never changes.  Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong?

Try this, instead of putting the Ext Component as the 1st component on the timeline, try and start it with a 10 offset.
So, the Virtual VCR will load 10 seconds AFTER the Timeline starts.
Sometimes (on slower PCs) you may encounter timing issues.. let me know.

This was a laptop that I just wiped clean.  I installed a bunch of updates and rebooted and the problem went away.
