Terms Of Use - Pushback from Resellers Customers?
« on: September 07, 2014, 04:38:42 PM »
We are contemplating becoming a re-seller.
The Terms of Use (MediaCloud and MediaServer) appear to be extremely "loose", and can (apparently) be changed at any time to the re-seller (for example in relation to pricing etc).
Our existing customer base are often acutely aware of the dangers of this, and its possible effects on financial viability of their DS solution.

Any re-sellers out there who have received push-back when they incorporate these same "elastic" terms to THEIR customers? How do you manage the risk of suddenly being presented with a price rise (which must SURELY come at some stage when there are "enough" subscribers etc)??
Thanks.

I am not 100% sure I understand the question.

Are you worried that sometime in the future, MS may increase their prices?

Well - Yes. Because the MS currently charge just $99 for Enterprise (unlimited licenses), and zero per player licence, and because there is no "notice period" to introduce/ increase charges, there is every possibility that at some stage they want to introduce a charge. As that is a real possibility, I suggest that re-sellers cannot freeze prices with THEIR customers for any significant period.
Do customers of re sellers typically question this inability for resellers to fix a fee ?

I have been using this from the day the enterprise services started initially they had said it would be player based and then they removed it off, must be around 4 years now. Business are dynamic and we cant say how it will keep changing ; A reseller will have to add value to the customer rather than just reselling so that we can also command the same changes that MS might make in future if it happens. There are too many If's and buts till then lets make merry :)

MediaSignage is doing very very well, we have no plans to increase rates.
Rates have been set at $99.00 for over 6 years.
If anything, we were talking internally about offering a reduced price for Prime account (non full enterprise).
I can add that a few of our very large clients opted to get a mediaHYBRID server to lock down pricing, added security etc.
But you have nothing to worry about, enjoy... Sometimes too good to be true, is just true!
