StudioLite Bug List 06-17-2014
« on: June 17, 2014, 01:32:57 AM »
Not that anyone seems to be reading these... but here we go.

  • New Viewers CANNOT be added to Screen Templates. "ERROR: 23503: insert or update on table "board_template_viewers" violates foreign key constraint "stage_template_viewers_fk" is returned due to inaccessibility of database."
  • Labels only appear in campaigns if underlined or left in default 'tiny neon green' mode. Neither of which are display modes of use to anyone.
  • When using mobile phones - Background Color Selector renders mostly off the left side of the screen on smaller mobile devices making it impossible to select colors or interact with.
  • Navigation on iPhone is near impossible with the current interface.
  • Backbone / StackView interferes with text entry on smaller phone screens. Something causes phone keyboards to autohide immediately upon opening when interacting with any text fields in the 'Right Properties Panel.

yes we do read all posts.

Can you create a video reproducing issues 1 and 2.
We are aware of the other issues in mobile and they will be resolved on future release.
For Backbone, please try the new release 0.9.47 uploaded yesterday.

Thanks...

(I should clarify that this is a privately unlisted video unavailable to the public which means that no one without the direct link from this forum has the ability to access it. With that said, if you have trouble accessing the video let me know and I will find another delivery method.)

Video outlining items on the bug list mentioned above.

00:20 Label with custom color and size crashes campaign.
01:10 Adding Underline to label saves campaign.
01:50 Modified label is replaced with default 'tiny, green' label which works, but is ...tiny and green.

03:05 Error received when adding New Viewer to Screen Template
03:25 Mobile layout shortcomings. Trouble selecting elements, Inability to manipulate Text Fields in the Right Properties Panel. Inability to select and change colors of elements.

We tested all the steps below and had no issues at all. I'd suggest you try clearing the Signage Players cache so that it downloads all the latest modules. Could you share with us what type of web browser you are using.  We tested using both Firefox and Chrome.

Cleared the SignagePlayer Cache: No Changes
Went as far as to delete all SignagePlayer Settings & Re-Register: Still Not Working

  • I have a question: Why would clearing the Cache of the playback machine have any effect at all on StudioLite.html webpage interface and it's communication with the mediacloud servers (i.e. as in the saving of new viewers within screen division templates? which is an operation that the playback machine on which the SignagePlayer is not involved in.)

FYI, I was able to get a viewer added once to a screen division, I tried a second time and I received the error. I logged out, logged back in, tried again and the error occurred yet again. I started fresh with a new campaign from scratch tried to create a new viewer in a screen division and I still got the error.

Browsers exhibiting the issues:

Mac OSX
 - Firefox
 - Safari
 - Chrome

Android (Jellybean & Kitkat)
 - Browser
 - Chrome

Immediate Follow up Finding:

If (very rare) you find yourself with a template that has allowed you to successfully save a new viewer to it - it will always continue to allow you to add new viewers to it, BUT if you add a second screen division to the timeline and try to add a new viewer to it the MSDB error will pop up.

Because you said the campaign is crashing, just noticed another thing, you are still using an older version of the android player.  Please download and install 4.15.XX and test the player again.

We tried to replicate your other issues using a mac and safari as the browser and didnt run into the same issues as you are having as well. Some on the button labels arent showing but overall everything worked as expected.  Here is a video of us putting it thru its phases.

Could it be something within your browser settings that might be causing the crashs?  Try testing on another pc.

Thank you for your diligence in producing a video showcasing your in-house experience.

Here is my own video which shows a clean install of a new browser and the arise of the database error.

What are your thoughts?

I have the same issues on two separate machines in the following OS/Browser combinations:
-Mac OSX / FireFox
-Mac OSX / Chrome
-Mac OSX / Safari
-Windows XP / FireFox
-Windows XP / Chrome

When using StudioLite in Safari, are you using latest version of Safari version?
While we don't test and don't plan to support safari on windows, we do test and certify safari on Mac.

We tested against Safari version 5.1.7 on Mac and it works identical to Chrome...

let us know...

As for your DB error, I believe it was due to change we made to the DB while StudioLite was in alpha, can you please open a new fresh Lite account and see if you can reproduce the issue? THX!!!
