We are doing are tests on 9.04
However I am sure it work just fine on 9.10
For a Signage Player you might as well use 9.04 since you will never take advantage of the new features.
In fact, in our BLACKBOX Players we ship them with a scaled down Window Manager called...well BlackBox Windows Manager. It is a VERY light WM that does not have all the extra CPU overhead that gnome has (gnome is the default Window Manager of Ubuntu ).
