Yes, this will resolve all issues.
We expect to have 100% functional player on Linux.
+ hardware acceleration by year end and mobile support by beginning of next year...

Yes, release 1.8 will include:

1. USB update support
2. External application support
3. Linux Ubuntu 9.04 support

We hope to have it in private beta early next week...
