Using Video Podcasts as content, is it legal?
« on: October 14, 2009, 09:44:59 AM »
As we all know it is quite easy to download video Podcasts and watch them on our computer or iPod, but is it OK to retask them for use on Digital Signage?

MediaSignage has an integrated feature for adding Podcasts, is anyone using it?  My thinking is that as long as I don't charge for the podcast itself, it should be acceptable usage. I sent a detailed email to a number of producers of video podcast (Fox News, etc.) and got no response.  Although it's certainly short of permission, I think that they either don't care have not yet developed a strategy for this type of usage.  In addition to producing our own content (which we have done for the last three years), it would be great to have access to this huge resource of videos.  I'd love to hear others ideas on this matter.

We are struggling with this as well.  We launch our first installation Jan 1st.  Luckily we have a professional Video Producer on our staff  We have been creating tons of Local HD Content.  They're  defiantly content licensing issues to deal with.  Maybe we should swap content.
