RSS Feeds
« on: September 18, 2009, 04:15:52 PM »
I created my own RSS Feed from a web application (Icerocket.com). It contains both Title and Description information. When I inserted the RSS component into my Scene using a Custom URL, it only displays the Title content in the ticker and not the Description content. What do I need to do differently? Thank you

I've noticed the same for any self built RSS only, even using the the Embedded RSS.

The generic feeds seem to work just fine.

Ok I did some playing around with RSS feeds this morning.

From what I can tell when any RSS feed scrolls vertically it shows both Title and Description, but when scrolling Horizontally only the Title shows (even the option to set the Description font values is grayed out).

Thanks caustichuddhist. I noticed that too.

David - Any chance of making it so that both can show up. For instance, in other software the title font can set to be different from the detail (ie. bold) & then the detail font follows. I can work around it for now - was just wondering if it wasn't something you guys could upgrade in the future?

Thanks!

Thank you! I will look forward to that feature.

I think I saw in one of the tutorials that RSS feeds are updated every 30 minutes. Is there any way to adjust this timeframe? I have created a custom RSS feed that I'd like to see updated more quickly on my display. (I realize I can do this from within the Studio & have immediate display, but am trying to simplify the updating process for my admin staff by using an external RSS feed generator). Is there a way to have MS check for updates every 10 min? Thanks.

We are adding some new enhancement to the RSS caching engine so I will get this feature in as well..

Thanks for the quick reply.

My reason for wanting this is a to quickly update scrolling text component without ever having to go into studio signage.  I'll be looking forward to this.
