@Anoop,

Thank you. Unchecking 'autorewind' did work to prevent the videos from displaying their last frames first. Since you seem to be knowledgeable regarding the ins-and-outs of signage player I wonder if you can shed some light onto the following video related issues I am observing on a 1.2ghz mini pc android stick.

  • Older FLV files (using older codecs such as On2 VP6 or Sorenson Spark, both pre-H.264 era codecs) play at near full frame rate and support seamless, smooth dissolve transitions in and out of the video file. The caveat is that playback isn't exactly full.
  • Newer F4V files which signage player requires to be renamed to FLV prior to upload (are encoded using the H.264 codec) and result in files that do not transition in or out of the video file, but rather display black for 1/2 second, then a 1/4 second stutter at the beginning of the video, then beautiful, reliable, full framerate playback through to the end of the file before cutting to the next timeline element rather than dissolving.
  • Lastly if 2 or more newer FLV files (H.264 and renamed from F4V) are on the same timeline they will display the first frames of the other video when they start.

Is there any insight that you or others have come across as to work arounds for these issues?

VP6 is essential for videos to run on ipad.
Are you having these videos running on the players as a full screen or do you have other components like RSS feed or weather etc. If the components are there then in the start of the time line there is a chance of stuttering because of the processing speed.Transition is not a strong point in the Mediasignage. To recheck i presume you are talking about playing in the android players.

To answer your question:

Campaign specs:
  • Fullscreen Video
  • Zero other components to load
  • Android 1.2ghz mini pc player

I understand that processing speed on the android mini pc's isn't the greatest, but I am wondering if I were asking too much of them to play a full screen video.

I do have an ipad which plays presentations as a demo, and you are correct that flv's cannot be h.264 and must be the older codec.

Low cost means lots of compromises. I have seen campaigns working perfectly in one device and the same campaign not working in another equivalent device and since i do not have much knowledge on Android core we will have to look forward for luck :)
On windows there are few places where we can test and do some work around not on android

Hello all,

I stumbled across this forum when trying to figure out why Flash on Android keeps the last frame of the previous video.  I noticed on this post you guys are experiencing the exact same issue (referred to as bug #3).  Did you ever figure out a fix or work around?

Any suggestions or comments you might have would be great!

Thank you.
