Simple yet not there?
« on: April 26, 2013, 12:36:14 PM »
A few things i've noticed while demo'ing the software for my particular needs.

1. FOLDERS! Specifically in the "resources" area. I'm going to upload 20,000 files when i start using this thing, keeping track of them is going to be the death of me.
2. Allow MP3s in the timeline. Instead of using the media player, how hard could it be to add another channel that does nothing but play music?
3. The scheduler needs a lot of work. At this point it's almost a deal-breaker for me to not be able to schedule things reliably.

Thanks!

Agreed on all counts - especially 3, the scheduler. It's not very easy to use and I agree, not reliable.

You know you can also use the proof of play to expire content as well .... just FYI...

but expiring by proof of play leaves a gap & the content is repeated in the space of the expired content.... not good for me.

Agree -- but do the other alternatives offer all the features -- AND the folder options.

The resources area needs tons of help in usability. Right now, it's seems version 2.0 and not 4.x

Drag/Drop
Access Codes
Mass Change
Multiple Select
Folder Name Change

All missing.

Any news about this topic? We are in urgent need of a proper scheduler on resources and scenes. I would like to manage resources/scenes based on start day/hour/minute and end day/hour/minute.
Its impossible to use the current scheduler supporting timelines only.

In the 2nd 1/2 of 2013 we will focus on over 100 enhancements to the studio and player including added flexibility to the scheduler.

I totally agree with scannercop. The scheduling by resource in that exact manner is what we need.

Good to hear that Admin will work on improvements.
But will those changes actually include the "..manage resources/scenes based on start day/hour/minute and end day/hour/minute.." ?

I agree with all points.

Though the folders would be nice, if you get a little clever with your file naming it is not really a big deal.  You can mass name content in windows by selecting all the files at once then rename them and it will numerically name all of the files in 1 go. Doing this and then just using the search function almost makes folders a non issue. Still they would be very nice.

It would be awesome to just get an ftp log in when you sign up for media signage for uploading and managing resources. That sure would make deleting nice. I have yet to find an efficient way of deleting things.
