Airport FIDS
« on: November 27, 2013, 07:32:38 AM »
Hello everybody,

I would like to use an airport FIDS, and I see that Flighstat website gives this kind of flights information under its "Developer Center / FIDS" section.

If you visit the site you see that the info should come in this format: api.flightstats.com/flex/fids/rest/v1/{format}/{airport}/{departures|arrivals}
Is it a good format for Mediasignage?

I ask this because this API is not for free, so i want to be sure before paying, and also because I then realized that this website is supplying several other options for free, under the "Link to Us" section", that maybe are enough for my needing:  just the list of Departures of just 1 specific airport (Paris Charles de Gaulle)

Is anyone already using airport feeds?

Thank you!

there are many ways to incorporate this, including the XML component... you may need middleware such as PHP to re-format some of the live feed, but should be trivial to do.

We have a great relationship with FLYTE SYSTEMS/ITS.  They can help you with this by setting up a format you like in a simple HTML feed.  Data can be for any airport you like.  AR/DP and even baggage claim updated every few seconds is possible.  It's not cheap because the data is compiled from a number of sources, but it is easy.  Here's a great contact at FlyteSystems...
