MediaDroid 50 Power Issue
« on: June 20, 2013, 08:30:58 PM »
Hi,

I've just received my MediaDroid 50 yesterday. Nice to have it at last in my hand but there's still 2 issues that needs to be fixed.

Issue 1: Player suddenly turned off
Once I connected the player to my 39" inches LED screen, powered via the screen's USB, everything went well. I followed all steps in the provided manual and once everything was done, i restarted the player by unplugging the MicroUSB from the player. When the player restarted, after few seconds, it relaunched the signage apps and here where the issue had started. Few seconds after the apps started, the screen went black and the player was turned off. After 2 failed temptations to make the player stay up, I unplugged the USB that was connected to screen's USB port and connect it to my Macbook's USB port and from there it worked well.  But I still wish I could use the screen's USB port to power the player.

Issue 2: Fly Remote Control stalled
The second issue is with the Fly remote control that I bought along with the player. When I started the player for the first time, it can be used flawlessly but after the power issue was fixed, the mouse had been functioning until the signage player was launched where the remote control got stalled. I had to replace it with my own wireless mouse and only from there I could control the player.   The remote looks nice but if it can function as it should, it would be perfect.

Please advise.

issue#1 is not something that we had ever seen so it must be a defective product and so please contact live chat for an immediate replacement.

Edit: My bad didn't read the post completely, this happens if the TVs usb port cant supply the proper voltage or amp. to run the droid...  only fix is to use another power source or the adapter that we send with the unit.

regards.

I run my players at retail locations and they were constantly locking up.  I tried everything from swapping players, to changing content size, length, and quantity.  Nothing seemed to work.  I had to go to every location every day to manually restart players.  Then I measured voltage on all my computer USB ports at 5.13 volts, and measured voltage on the plug-in power supply that comes with the small Android player at 5.6 volts.  I have not measured voltage on my TV USB port.  I run the players on LED screens.  I installed a Meanwell 5 volt adjustable output power supply and installed it, then adjusted voltage up to 5.6 volts.  Since then, no issues.  It's a bummer that the Android players won't run consistently off USB ports.  They need to be plugged in or put on a separate power supply if you have any less than 5.6 volts. ;)

We run android 50 on many locations and many of the players keeps crasching after a while. When replacing the power source to the adapter its working fine. Please adress this issue.

some TVs do not supply enough voltage via USB so you may need to use the external PS.
