WebCam component is crashing Signage Studio
« on: January 21, 2013, 08:20:23 PM »
This seems to be a possible bug, tried multiple times and always crashing the signage studio.

- Signage Studio v4.10.20
- Add WebCam to channel
- Double click on the WebCam component, Signage Studio will crash

This has been working in the previous version of 4.1.

I tried and seems fine.. please make sure you are using Desktop version of Studio and most importantly make sure works in Desktop player.

We are using the desktop version of the studio. We have not published to the desktop player, we add the component to the channel and double click this will crash the studio.

@design,

Do me a favor. Build a New/Blank campaign and only have 1 channel with 1 screen division (full screen) and add the Webcam component to it. Double click it and see what happens and let me know. I have just tried it on my machine (Studio) and I get the video feed in my preview window without any crashes.

If you want to email me directly, I would be happy to take a look at your setup.

Chris,

Thanks for suggestion, I did tried new blank campaign with one channel and when I double click the Webcam component the Studio will crash, I used to get the video feed preview in the previous 4.1 version. I guess I will remove and reinstall signage studio.

No problem, it's let me know if I can be of assistance. You may also want to make sure that your webcam driver is up to date. I know that Windows has had some updates recently and if you have not turned off updates, then it is possible the you also need to update your drivers. I am assuming you are using windows.

I run most of my programs on OS X, but do have windows and linux in the lab environment.

Does your webcam work outside of mediasignage software using Skype for instance?
