Startup with No Internet Connection
« on: May 17, 2009, 05:34:33 AM »
In the upgrade history it says that the feature to have the air player start up with out an internet coonnection was added.  However, my air player does not start up when I have no internet connection.  This feature is critical to my application.  Is this a bug or is this feature still available?

Hello,
We do support this feature.

Please do the following:

1. Make sure that you run the presentation at least for 5-10 minutes to give a chance for the media files to get cached.
Afterwards you can re-start even with no internet connection.

2. RSS does require internet connection, we will add caching system for it in 2-3 weeks.

3. You can email me to mstech [ at ] media ... and I will login to your system and check it out.

But yes, this feature is working and supported.

Regards,

What about if I reset the computer or the computer turns on the next day and has no connection?  Will it be able to load the catch if the computer restarts?

My media player with Air Player is also doing this and it is a new problem.

Before last week, I could cut the power to it and then restore the power and the signage played--no Internet connection needed.  Then I noticed this week that when the power went off then the Air Player tried to start three times and failed to start when not connected to Internet (it did start and played okay when it was connected).  Something evidently has changed in the latest update that makes a difference.  In all cases, I left the player connected to the Internet (via a Verizon wireless USB air card) and the Air Player running for more than the recommended 5-10 minutes before disconnecting from Internet.
