Analytics using agents or monitoring software?
« on: October 31, 2012, 11:04:29 PM »
Hi Guys,
I hope you are well.

Is there anything at all that we could have to help us give a proof of play report  report, simple stuff eg.

1. Is the PC on and for how long it was on and how long campaign was playing
2. How many times each campaign was played ( Even this is secondary as if we have the report that the PC was on on we can provide this info)

Is there any application monitoring software, or open source monitoring agents that you are aware of that could run in the background and advise on which files are being played from the application data folder.

I know your solution will be ready in about 60 days.....but we need something now. Could you advise on a temporary solution?
Thanks and best regards
Brendan

Maybe i've a solution

we tried a small .swf file which has the function to read out if the monitor's are on, the ip adresses and the time when it was played.... if u add such a file at the end of your loop you have proof of play
it's just a workaround for the moment ...

But of course... i'm also very interested in the reports of the signage player ...

That sounds interesting. I know that a SWF file can also contain Analytics from Google, but that would only show that it played and connected to the internet, but not that the other peripheral devices were on at the time. I would be interested in seeing what you have if you cared to share. Feel free to PM me. Thanks.

If...

If each advertiser's media is in a scene.

And in every scene that has:
  - The ads file.
  - A component SWF or HTML hidden.

The URL that will load the component will be the ID of the ad, and in accordance with this ID, loads the Google Analytics.
That way you'll know the exact time that the media was shown. And also know in real time. And also how many times it was shown.

As example:
www.yourwebsite.com/analytics.php?ads=1

And in its database, the ads number 1, you show the correct Google Analytics a Code in accordance with this ID.

It is one of the best solutions. Because you have control over all ads in real time.

Thanks! =)

Hi there,
Thanks
These sound like great ideas. What if our ads are *.flv files on a timeline what do you think we need to do here? Is this where we should put the *.swf file you mention at the end of the timeline.
I am not too clued up with swf files, can all video files be converted to swf files in flash?
Please advise.
Thanks and regards
Brendan
