Android Digital Signage Player Problems
« on: November 26, 2012, 12:45:55 PM »
Hi Everyone,

I'm having some trouble playing a presentation in 3 different (UG802, MK802 III and MK808) Android Mini PCs. One run of the video in the presentation seems to run well but then the next run the video seems to jitter or jump a little. See the following youtube video for a better explanation.  For some unknown reason I'm not able to post external links.  I'm gonna break down the youtube link so you guys can fix it manually in order to see it (Just copy the link, paste it on the URL box and then replace the first "/" after the www with a dot ".".

Thanks.

There are many type of video encoders so its hard to say why that video does not work well.
Please try this and report back:

I tried with the videos you gave me but the same issue happens.  What else could it be?

Thanks.

The same thing you saw on the youtube video i post in the first message.  One run the video seems flawless and then the second run seems to be a little bit jumpy, not smooth as the first run.  And then the pattern goes on forever, one good and then one bad.  Sorry for my english.

The 3 Android stick are dual core 1.2 - 1.6 GHz .  When I hit preview and watch it on my web browser, on the same PC I used to design the presentation, the video always run perfectly.

What can be wrong?

Thanks.

We do see that sometimes and it's due to buffers not clearing up, we will optimize this in a future build.
All I can recommend is lower resolution video or getting a stronger device.

FYI, with the videos I provided, on 2nd run when buffer have not cleared you may see a light lower frame rate, but it will be that noticeable...
your plane video seems to be of higher res plus it is not running on ZX.

Thanks for posting this video. I can also confirm the existence of this issue.
We discussed it here but no helpful answers -  http://script.digitalsignage.com/forum/index.php/topic,2187.msg7972.html#msg7972

I think the android player needs a little improvement.

I am happy to announce we fixed the problem of the video being sluggish on the 2nd loop.
You will need to do 2 things.

1. Under stations > select your Android Station > Perfomance > be sure to "Uncheck" the Transitions checkbox (so it's off)
2. Restart the SignagePlayer in Android one time so it downloads the fix submitted today (it's a dynamic module so just a restart is all that is needed)

Thanks for reporting,

Sean.

This was fixed in release 4.0.105

Get it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=air.me.signage.player

and, be sure to disable transition for the fix to apply (Under Stations > selected station > performance)
