Android: One bug left to be perfect.
« on: November 14, 2012, 05:04:13 AM »
Hello!
The new version of SignagePlayer (4.0.98) for Android is excellent!
Is more stable, with better performance, fixed some bugs and more.

But from what I tested on some Android devices, I think missing a few things to be perfect:

1 - This bug still happens in some campaigns: - FIXED
http://script.digitalsignage.com/forum/index.php/topic, 2187.0.html

2 - When the effects of active transitions. The scene containing components CustomRSS (title, description, resource image) at the transition, the image (customRSS item) does not participate in transition effect, and when the effect of all other elements in the scene ends, the image (customRSS item) disappears (without effect).
- FIXED disabling transitions...
3 - I have some H.264 videos (720P and 1080P) in the timeline, they play perfectly. But when the transition will begin to the next element (image, video or scene), appears for half a second a frame from one of the videos of the timeline.
After several tests, I found that this problem pop up a frame before the next element only happens in these transitions:
Image to video
Video to video
Scene to video

With the rest of the transitions NOT happen this bug:
Video to image = NO
Video to scene = NO
Image to image = NO
Image to scene = NO
Scene to image = NO
Scene to scene = NO

-----

I think I only have these three most critical bugs.

But the app is getting better.

Thanks!  ;D

EDIT:

More one:

4 - The Player go full screen when hide the bottom bar. - FIXED

Hey Cloud,

You say that you are able to get 720p and 1080p H.264 videos to play perfectly. Can you explain you process on creating those videos? Because I have yet to see HD videos playing perfect on any player that I've tried.

I have tested the videos in two android devices:

GalaxyTab2 10.1 (dual core 1ghz, 1gb ram)
UG802 (dual core 1.2ghz, 1gb ram)

I have downloaded these video on youtube, they are MP4;

I have a 1280x720 scene with 3 smaller scenes embedded.  these smaller embed scenes are cropped HTML links, nothing dynamic.  test works on my intel i3 laptop and both mediaBoxes, however on mediaDroid ZXh i don't see any of the embedded html scenes.  Nor do i see the html when using the individual html scenes straight to a timeline.

am i missing something - is the mediaDroid ZXh not capable of displaying the HTML component? :(

Only our next generation devices which will begin shipping in 3-4 weeks will support HTML5 and only support 1 HTML since we use Native WebKit browser to be able to take advantage of native OS calls and hardware acceleration on the HTML component in Android.

ok, thanks for the heads-up.

so when the next-gen mediaDroids are available by "1 HTML" you mean to say that in any particular scene or timeline i can only have 1 instance of an HTML component?  Sorry to be noob - brain is taxed tonight...

To piggyback on @kevx529...

Am I correct in assuming that you will only be able to have 1 3rd party SWF running as well since this is in an HTML wrapper?

That should be the case... and in any case, I wouldn't run more on low powered devices...

Updates:

The BUG 3, after many tests using FLV videos with codec H.264 and video with res. 1280x720p:

The transitions effects are disabled...

When have a transition 'ANYTHING' to VIDEO, appears for a half a second of the last frame of the last played video.

I too am experiencing this problem of having a video begin by showing the last frames of the video at its beginning. This is strange.

Is it a hardware, software, or video codec issue? Do we know one way or another?

The project is playing on a 1.2 ghz android mini pc the timeline starts with a photo then moves into a video and ends with the last item in the timeline being a photo.
