TLS-Error popup for LetsEncrypt certificate
« on: March 09, 2022, 12:59:06 PM »
Thank you very much for this wonderful and powerful software. It is a joy to work with it.

Since my webhoster has enabled encryption and is using a Let's Encrypt TLS certificate, an annoying popup comes up upon every start of the Android player when images a retrieved from the server. I wonder if the player software suffers from the problem described at https ://stackoverflow .com/questions/21172715/android-certificate-store-is-being-ignored-by-my-air-mobile-application?

Are there any workaround to accept Let's Encrypt certificates?

Thanks,
lngo

I am not sure which version of the Android player you have but this method worked for me using the Media Droid X Pro player (Android version 9).  You will need to go into the Android settings and select "Apps".  Then select "See All Apps", scroll down to the bottom and select "Show System Apps".  Then select "Certificate Installer" and turn off "Notifications".  After doing this, you will need to clear the cache and restart the device.  Please post to the forum if this resolves your problem...

Thanks for the suggestion, but it did not change the behaviour. The popup still appears, and to me it does not look like (i. e. it does not appear as material design) something the Android OS would show. Btw., the installed Chrome browser, WebView-Component and others happily connect to hosts with similar certificates.

I have the same issue with one of the MediaDroid-X I have deployed.  It started throwing up the TLS warning when the player loads.  I've nuked the cache on the player, turned off notifications for Cert Installer.  If you ever get this resolved can you please let me know what you did.  Thanks.

I solved this for me.  The droid kept reverting back to Jan 1, 2017 as the date.  Completely ignoring the NTP server.  That'd cause a TLS warning due to droid seeing a cert that has a valid date far into the future.  I set the date/time manually and it's good now.

Edit:  Sort of solved.  I know what the problem is.  However, whenever the Mediadroid-X reboots it resets the date/time.
