Caching tab under stations page
« on: September 25, 2012, 02:46:50 AM »
In 3.0 version of signagestudio there was a Caching tab under the stations page that showed how many resources are uploaded on a certain device. Is there any way to get it back in version 4.0 since it is very useful when starting a new campaign (I do not start it until I see that all of the content is uploaded).

Version 4.0 now only caches what is in the campaign not the whole accounts resources.  The caching column will be reintroduced later on probably with a different label. It was removed because it was causing some confusions with 4.0 users.

Just great, It was very useful feature.
Confusion was better then sting in the dark.
Now you just have to guess & tell your client to keep looking at internet activity lights blinking to go off.

The caching of resources only when the campaign runs is a big issue, If you have a 10 minutes video file to be first time run at a scheduled time, it will show blank during that time because the player shows blank when it is downloading even with a 1 MBps internet speed...
Earlier we could have downloaded the same before hand so that at that time it plays properly.

We already have clients complaining about white screens and slow transitions after the forced 4.0 upgrades. We use our televisions for displaying video content that's larger than 10MB (lectures that run closer to 200-300MB). I'm all for a little confusion if it means I don't have to get rid of my signage system and start over.

We will be introducing the ability to turn off transitions so if you are running on a low powered PC you will be able to turn it off.
